The world's first quantum communications satellite 28.05.2016

China plans to launch an experimental satellite as early as July this year, which will allow organizing a secure quantum communication channel.

Quantum communication systems are impossible to eavesdrop on. These secure links already exist, but they usually only work in a lab environment because they use special fiber and other components not available on the commercial market.

If the launch of the Chinese apparatus is successful, it will be the world's first experiment on the formation of a quantum channel between a satellite in orbit and ground equipment. The satellite is planned to be used for research in the field of quantum technologies.

It is also noted that in the second half of this year, a secure quantum communication line will be put into operation, which will connect Beijing and Shanghai.
