I am into karting and would like to share one piece of advice with those who are into this sport.

The MMVZ-3115 engine has a weak point - the gear shift shaft. The fact is that on a motorcycle the gear lever is located horizontally, but when installed on a go-cart, it takes a vertical position. A flat is machined on the shaft for the coupling bolt (that is, part of the splines is cut off), and when rotated by 90 °, another one is removed. As a result, the spline connection is very unreliable and often fails. True, on the new cards of the AKU-83 brand this drawback has been eliminated, but since the old motors will remain in operation for a long time, my advice may turn out to be useful.

The essence of the proposal is as follows. Since the tubular kickstarter shaft is not used on the map, it could well be adapted to reinforce the shift shaft. First of all, the first one should be shortened to a length of 75 mm and cut 5,5 mm wide - best with a thin emery wheel. Further, a hole is drilled on the gearshift shaft at a distance of 80 mm from its edge for a hardened mounting nail-dowel, and the splined part is turned to Ø 10 mm, and an M10 thread is cut on it.

When assembling, a modified dowel is inserted into the hole in the gear shift shaft. When tightening the nut, the kickstarter shaft rests against it, thereby creating a tight, play-free connection of both shafts. This design has been working flawlessly for more than four years.
