Redundant power supply, 12/220 volts 180 watts

Section Power supplies. In everyday life, especially in rural areas, there are frequent cases when the power supply is suddenly turned off. In such a situation, an emergency power supply can help out. As a primary source for it, the most accessible car starter battery with a voltage of 12 V. The energy that it is able to give is quite enough to power a TV, lighting lamp and other household appliances for several hours. ... >>

Input circuits and RF receiver

Section Radio reception. As we already found out in the first chapter, in order to increase the sensitivity and real selectivity of a heterodyne receiver, the input circuit must provide a power transfer coefficient close to unity in the operating frequency range and as much as possible attenuation of out-of-band signals. All this is the properties of an ideal band-pass filter, therefore, the input circuit must be implemented in the form of a filter. The often used single-loop input circuit is the worst to meet the requirements. To increase selectivity, it is necessary to increase the loaded quality factor of the circuit, weakening its connection with the antenna and mixer or URF. But then almost all the power of the received signal will be spent in the circuit and only a small part of it will go to the mixer or URF ... >>

Chandelier Chizhevsky - do it yourself

Section Electronics in medicine. In recent years, a lot has been written about the Chizhevsky Chandelier in newspapers, broadcast on the radio, and mentioned in television programs. Moreover, reports were devoted to it at the International Conference Conversion: Social, Environmental and Economic Aspects, held at the Russian Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation in April last year. The proposed article tells about the unique invention of our brilliant compatriot Alexander Leonidovich Chizhevsky, whose centenary is celebrated in February of this year, about the independent manufacture of a chandelier at home and the rules for its operation. ... >>

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

A relativistic jet with a strong magnetic field has been obtained 07.06.2019

A team of scientists at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) has created for the first time a special form of plasma jet that could advance understanding of much larger jets, or jets, erupting from quasars, the centers of young galaxies and black holes.

"We are currently creating stable, supersonic and highly magnetized plasma jets in the lab that could allow us to study astrophysical objects light-years away," said astrophysicist Edison Liang of Rice University.

The team built the jet using the OMEGA Laser Facility at the University of Rochester's Laser Energy Laboratory (LLE). The researchers fired 20 individual OMEGA laser beams into an annular region on a plastic target. Each laser created a tiny layer of plasma; as the flares expanded, they pressed against the inner region of the ring, which as a result squeezed out a plasma jet that reached more than four millimeters in length and created a magnetic field that had a strength of more than 100 Tesla.

The diagnostic tools, developed by teams at the LLE and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), measured the density, temperature, length of the jet, the magnetic field around it, and how well it kept its shape as it grew through space. The measurements help scientists compare laboratory jets to jets in outer space. They also make it possible to observe how the plasma behaves under different conditions.

"This is a groundbreaking study because no other team has launched a narrow-beam supersonic jet that carries such a strong magnetic field over considerable distances," said Lan Gao, leader of the study. "This is the first time that scientists have demonstrated that the magnetic field not only envelops the jet, but also propagates parallel to its axis."
