Solar collectors. Sizing Solar Hot Water System

Section Alternative energy sources. A solar hot water system can serve as the sole source of hot water or include a backup system using traditional fuels to accommodate increased or unexpected hot water needs. The size of the system is usually determined by the number of rooms, people and the volume of hot water required. There are several basic solar water heater configurations. Broadly speaking, they are divided into two types: active systems, equipped with pumps and controls that allow solar heat to be directed into a thermal storage tank, and passive systems, such as a thermosyphon, which use the natural circulation of hot water ... >>

Multi-channel remote voltmeter

Section Microcontrollers. A multi-channel remote voltmeter is a device that allows you to remotely measure the values of alternating sinusoidal voltages from several different sources (six channels in this implementation) and present the information received on six three-digit seven-segment indicators. The development of the device is due to the need for constant monitoring of the power supply of equipment located at some distance from the location of a person. Currently, the device is used to control three phases of the input voltage supplied to the industrial normalizer and three phases of the removed voltage. The distance from the measurement point to the indication point is 800m ... >>

Camping electrostimulator

Section Electronics in medicine. The proposed electrostimulator is good to use on trips, business trips. It is easy to manufacture and gives stable parameters when repeated. The use of any low-power low-frequency transistors makes it possible for beginner radio amateurs to make it. Any transistors are used: GT109, MP40 ... When using silicon transistors, it is necessary to change the polarity of the electrolytes and connect the batteries. LED - any glow with the appropriate switching polarity. I have AL102B ... >>

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

The deepest dive in the history of sea expeditions 14.05.2019

Former naval officer Victor Vescovo has managed to dive to a depth of 10927 meters in his bathyscaphe.

In total, Veskovo and his team made five dives during the expedition. Victor spent four hours exploring the bottom of the depression. The team believes they have discovered four new species of amphipod crustaceans. At a depth of 7 and 8 thousand meters, respectively, a spoonworm (or echiur) and a pink snail were seen. The team also discovered brightly colored rock outcrops and collected rock samples from the seabed.

In addition, in the Mariana Trench, the researchers found garbage: a plastic bag and a candy wrapper. Vescovo's findings may seem implausible, but according to recent research, plastic waste has indeed reached the deepest ocean waters.

While the ocean floor was once thought to be devoid of marine life, researchers have now concluded that plastic particles endanger a surprising array of organisms found in places like the Mariana Trench. Discoveries have shown that the distribution of waste in the depths of the ocean has become so widespread that some organisms - for example, amphipods - are beginning to use microplastics as food. 80 percent of creatures sampled at the six deepest points in the ocean around the world have plastic found in their bodies. For the Mariana Trench, that figure is a whopping 100 percent.
