Electronic mosquito trap

Section Consumer electronics. Home, household, hobby. In the summer, mosquitoes are the worst enemies for many. Moreover, unlike country and forest ones, urban ones are distinguished by agility and are more shy. It is much more difficult to kill such a bloodsucker, since his diet is at night, and he will patiently wait for you to fall asleep. Just one mosquito can keep you awake half the night, periodically reminding you of your presence. To combat mosquitoes, in addition to protective creams, there are commercially available thermal evaporators of a special substance that can kill all flying insects within 30 minutes indoors. How often these protection methods are harmless to the person himself, time will tell, but they cannot be classified as cheap. ... >>

Do-it-yourself GSM antenna

Section Mobile communications. Recently, the coverage area of GSM 900 networks has significantly increased in Russia. However, the situation is far from ideal. If in European countries the problem of uncertain reception is practically absent, then most domestic users often encounter it - in country houses, in summer cottages, etc. And how wonderful it would be to go fishing, hunting, to the village without losing touch with the outside world ! The key to solving this problem is external directional or non-directional antennas. True, buying an antenna is not enough - you need to install and configure it correctly. Readers familiar with radio electronics will be able to independently manufacture and configure an antenna operating in the GSM standard. Today we will talk about the types of antennas and how to install and configure them. ... >>

wow booster for electric guitar

Section Electronics - musician. The described device allows you to implement wah-wah effects. soft attack, booster (click) and wow-booster in the sound of electric guitars of all varieties. It practically does not require adjustment, it is in good agreement with guitar pickups of various types (input signal level 10 ... 100 mV), it has a simple system for switching operating modes. It should be noted that when operating in the Booster and Wah-Booster modes, it performs the functions of a dynamic noise level limiter and prevents the occurrence of excitation due to acoustic feedback in pauses, even when phae and distortion devices are connected to the input ... >>

Using Apple Vision Pro during surgery 16.03.2024

The medical team at Cromwell Hospital in London used Apple Vision Pro for the first time during two spinal surgeries. This event confirms the headset's potential as a medical tool that will change the way surgical practice is performed. Although the doctors themselves did not use Vision Pro, the operating room nurse worked with virtual reality using glasses while preparing and performing procedures. The headset made it possible to view virtual screens in the operating room, select instruments and monitor the progress of the operation. Software developed by eXeX, a company that specializes in creating artificial intelligence-based applications for surgery, has significantly improved the patient care process. Using Apple Vision Pro opens up new opportunities for developing healthcare applications such as clinical education, surgical planning, training and medical imaging. Implementation of Apple Vision Pro in the medical industry ... >>

Carbon storage in the North Sea 16.03.2024

Norwegian Energy Minister Terje Åsland has announced the launch of the Longship project, which aims to create a central carbon dioxide storage facility in the North Sea. This ambitious project is valued at $2,6 billion and aims to apply CCS (carbon capture and storage) technology to mitigate the impact of climate change. Norway already has experience in CCS, thanks to the successful Sleipner and Snohvit projects, and is now looking to increase the amount of carbon sealed beneath the seabed. Longship's plan calls for capacity to capture and store 1,5 million tons of carbon annually over 25 years. Despite the positive outlook, there are concerns about the long-term consequences of such storage. However, proponents of the project argue that offshore carbon storage has a number of advantages, including minimal environmental impact. The Longship project is carried out with the participation of Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies through the joint venture Northern Li ... >>

Mini-organs grown from human amniotic fluid 15.03.2024

An international team of scientists led by Professor Fan Xiulin from Zhejiang University has developed a unique method of growing mini-organs from cells found in human amniotic fluid. This significant medical breakthrough could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment of congenital diseases. The organoids, which are three-dimensional cellular structures that mimic organs on a smaller scale, were grown from lung, kidney and small intestine cells found in amniotic fluid. This method opens up new possibilities for studying various fetal conditions and may be the key to early diagnosis and treatment of birth defects. Although no treatment has yet been attempted, the scientists hope their research will help combat the serious congenital diseases that affect millions of newborns each year. This breakthrough could change medical interventions by making it possible to diagnose and treat congenital diseases. ... >>

ThinkVision 3 27D glasses-free 3D monitor 11.09.2023

Lenovo has announced a number of innovative products, including the powerful Legion 9i liquid-cooled gaming laptop, available starting at $4400. However, one of the most interesting new devices is the ThinkVision 3 27D 3D monitor, which can display XNUMXD images without the need for special glasses.

This effect is achieved using biconvex lenses and eye tracking technology. The monitor is capable of creating two separate images, one for each user's eye. These images have different perspectives, which gives the painting a sense of volume.

The specific field where the 27D effect is active depends on the user's position. In the case of the ThinkVision 3 40D, this is approximately 3 cm to the side, and the distance from the monitor for the best 60D experience is between 1 cm and XNUMX meter.

The concept of a lens display is not new - previously similar technologies were presented by Acer and Asus. However, ThinkVision 27 3D adds innovation by tracking the user's eye position and adjusting the image to each eye. When the 3D effect is turned off, the monitor displays a normal 4K image with a resolution of 3840x2160 pixels. When the 3D effect is enabled, each eye sees an image with a resolution of 1920x2160 pixels. The screen refresh rate is 60 Hz, and when 3D mode is enabled - 30 Hz for each eye. Maximum brightness reaches 310 cd/m2.

To support 3D applications, Lenovo introduced the 3D Explorer add-on module and Software Development Kit (SDK) to create compatible products. The ThinkVision 3 27D Monitor will be available in January next year for $3.
