Car battery discharge indicator

Section Car. Batteries, chargers. To prolong the life of a car battery, effective control over its charging mode is necessary. The described device signals the driver when the voltage on the battery is increased and when it is lowered, and the generator is not working. In the event of increased current consumption in the on-board network at a low frequency of rotation of the generator rotor, the signaling device does not work. When developing the device, the goal was to place it in the housing of the PC702 signal relay available in the car, which determined the design features of the signaling device and the types of transistors used. A schematic diagram of an electronic signaling device, together with its connection circuits with elements of the on-board network, is shown in fig. 1 ... >>

Direct Conversion Receiver

Section Radio reception. Recently, short-wave direct conversion receivers have become widespread. The figure shows a schematic diagram of one of these receivers, designed to operate in the 3.5 MHz band. An ohm consists of a high-frequency amplifier, a balanced mixer, a low-pass filter, and a low-pass amplifier. The RF amplifier is made on a field-effect transistor T1. Its load is the LIC3 circuit. From a symmetrical coil L3, the signal is fed to a balanced mixer, consisting of diodes D3, D4 and a tuning resistor R3. Filters are on at the output of the balanced mixer ... >>

Integrated voltage regulators 78хх, 79хх, 78Lxx,79Lxx, LMxxx

Section Reference materials. Stabilizer input - IN, output - OUT, common -GND (Ground). The control input of an adjustable stabilizer is designated as ADJ (Adjust - adjustment). To the input (Input), as well as to the output (Output) of the stabilizer (directly at the corresponding output or near it), in order to avoid self-excitation, it is necessary to connect a capacitor with a capacitance of 47 ... 220 nF. If the capacitance of the capacitor at the output of the stabilizer is very large, and the load current is small, a diode must be connected between the input and output. This solution ensures that the output voltage will very quickly decrease to the value of the input voltage. For reliable operation of the stabilizer, the input voltage is selected at least 3 V higher than the output voltage. ... >>

The speech of sperm whales is similar to that of humans 18.05.2024

In the world of the ocean, where the mysterious and unknown coexists with the studied, sperm whales, with their huge brains, are of particular interest to science. Researchers, working with a huge array of audio recordings collected during the Dominica Sperm Whale Project (DSWP) - more than 8000 recordings, seek to unravel the secrets of their communication and understand the structure and complexity of the language of these mysterious creatures. By studying in detail the recordings of 60 sperm whales in the eastern Caribbean, scientists have revealed surprising features of their communication, revealing the complexity of their language. "Our observations indicate that these whales have a highly developed combinatorial communication system, including rubato and ornaments, which indicates their ability to quickly adapt and vary during communication. Despite significant differences in evolution, sperm whales have elements in their communication that are characteristic of human communication," says Shane Gero, a biologist at Carleton University and director of the CETI project. Electron spin for quantum information transfer 18.05.2024

The transfer of quantum information remains one of the key tasks of modern science. Recent advances in the use of electron spin to expand the capabilities of information transfer in quantum systems have become very important. Researchers at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory are pushing the frontiers of quantum information science by experimenting with the possibilities of electron spin. Electron spin, a natural quantum bit, is a potentially powerful means for storing and transmitting information in quantum systems. Magnon wave packets, collective excitations of electron spin, have revealed their potential to transmit quantum information over significant distances. The work of Berkeley Lab researchers has revolutionized the way such excitations propagate in antiferromagnets, opening up new prospects for quantum technologies. Using pairs of laser pulses, scientists disrupted antiferromagnetic order in one place and simultaneously studied it in another, creating ... >>

Sound-absorbing silk 17.05.2024

In a world where noise is becoming increasingly intrusive, the emergence of innovative materials that can reduce its impact is of great interest. MIT researchers have unveiled a new sound-absorbing silk fabric that promises to revolutionize quiet spaces. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has made significant breakthroughs in the field of sound absorption. Researchers have developed a special silk fabric that can effectively absorb sound and create cozy, quiet environments. The fabric, thinner than a human hair, contains a unique vibrating fiber that is activated when voltage is applied to it. This feature allows the fabric to be used to suppress sound waves in two different ways. The first method uses fabric vibrations to generate sound waves that cover and cancel out unwanted noise, similar to noise-canceling headphones. This p ... >>

Application Processors with High-Speed Wireless LAN Module and NAND Flash 10.03.2014

Toshiba Electronics Europe (TEE) announced the release of a new line of application processors supporting the IEEE802.11ac frequency band (a standard for high-speed wireless LAN) and equipped with NAND flash memory. The TZ5000 series is the latest addition to the Toshiba ApP Lite family and is ideal for applications ranging from Internet video tuners (OTT1) and IP media players to portable devices, digital public address systems and thin clients.

As the volume of video and audio transmission over the Internet grows, there is a growing need for set-top boxes and other similar equipment to receive content and distribute it to computers and smartphones via a wireless LAN. The TZ5000 Series Application Processors combine the wireless LAN connectivity required for high quality video distribution with built-in NAND flash for storing user programs and storing large amounts of data in the form of a cache. This reduces the number of external integrated circuits and reduces the installation area, which contributes to a reduction in the size of the equipment.

This series also uses an original low-power technology to reduce power consumption and heat generation when processing multimedia applications such as HTML5, which usually take a heavy load on the CPU.

The TZ5000MBG and TZ5001MBG are based on a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore processor with a NEON media processing engine running at up to 1,2GHz. Built-in IEEE802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2x2 MIMO communication module (Ensigma C4500) provides high-speed connectivity to wireless host devices.

Built-in 32Gb MLC NAND flash and a dedicated memory controller provide fast software loading (such as operating system) and fast data access. Moreover, thanks to the software zone built into the module, the processors are protected from data corruption and hacker attacks. The TZ5001MBG processor supports additional security in the form of Secure Boot System Control.

Each processor includes a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, a PowerVR VXD395 VPU, and a graphics engine capable of 1080 pixels at 60 frames per second. This module contains a multi-format decoder and inter-process communication scheme (IPC), and also supports scalar, rotator, and linker functions. DDR3/3L/LP-DDR3, USB OTG, SDIO, HDMI, MIPI, CSI, and DSI interfaces are used for high-speed I/O.

Delivery of trial samples of new processors will begin in May, and the beginning of serial production is planned for September, 2014.
