Stabilized power supply, 220/1-40 volts
Section Power supplies. The described power supply is assembled from available elements. It requires almost no adjustment, operates in a wide range of input AC voltage, and is equipped with overcurrent protection. The proposed power supply allows you to get a stabilized output voltage from 1 V to almost the value of the rectified voltage from the secondary winding of the transformer. A comparison unit is assembled on transistor VT1: a part of the reference voltage is supplied to the base from the variable resistor R3 engine (set by the reference voltage source VD5VD6HL1R1), and the output voltage from the R14R15 divider is supplied to the emitter. The mismatch signal is fed to the current amplifier, made on the transistor VT2, which controls the regulating transistor VT4 ... >>
EPS indicator of oxide capacitors
Section Measuring technology. Recently, in the technical literature, descriptions of devices that are very useful in amateur and professional practice - indicators or EPS meters - have been published. The author of the proposed article set himself the task of developing a simpler and more economical device. Indeed, if in the above ESR meter, an alternating voltage of the order of tens of millivolts is applied to the capacitor under test, and the current through the microammeter does not exceed 0,5 mA, then the current consumed by the meter reaches 20 mA. Further analysis showed that in some EPS meters this parameter is affected by the quality factor of the equivalent circuit formed by the inductance of the measuring transformer, the capacitances of the tested and decoupling capacitors, as well as the measured EPS value. The rectangular signal applied to this circuit serves to excite damped oscillations in it at the resonant frequency of the circuit. The alternating voltage is rectified and supplied to the measuring device - microammeter (or milliammeter) ... >>

Artificial leather for touch emulation
15.04.2024
In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>
Petgugu Global cat litter
15.04.2024
Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>
The attractiveness of caring men
14.04.2024
The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>
Random news from the Archive 7,5" LCD
22.08.2006
Sharp Microelectronics is expanding its Strong2 series of products with the 7,5-inch TFT LCD LQ075V3DG01, a new robust medium format display.
The LCD display features high image quality, extended temperature range and low power consumption. Therefore, these modules are conceived primarily for mobile use in the industrial sector and are used, for example, in portable measuring instruments or in portable medical equipment.
The new Strong2 LCD display is easy to read even in poor lighting conditions, which is especially important for mobile use. With 400 cd/I brightness, 260 colors and 000:600 contrast ratio, the LCD meets the toughest outdoor requirements. The high contrast ratio of Strong1 Sharp LCDs is achieved by optimally changing the potential of the picture elements when they are on.
At the same time, the new display is designed for low current consumption. Strong2 modules are significantly more resistant to temperature fluctuations and vibrations than conventional displays.
Thanks to improved polarizers and RGB filters, the panels can withstand temperatures from -30 to +80°C both in operating mode and in the off state. New materials as well as a new construction design ensure targeted shock and vibration damping. So the 7,5" LCD is much more reliable than regular displays.
