Can a dolphin talk?

Recently there have been reports of experiments designed to test the intelligence of brown dolphins and the possibility of trying to make contact with them.

But do you know what a brown dolphin is? It's not a fish, it's a mammal. It belongs to the cetacean family. Like all mammals, they feed their young with milk. Like whales, dolphins breathe through one nostril located on top of their head. When a dolphin floats to the surface, it opens its nostril and takes in air.

Another amazing feature of dolphins is that their tail is in a horizontal position, and not in a vertical position, like all fish. This helps him jump out of the water. We really enjoy watching the graceful movements of dolphins.

So can brown dolphins "talk"? Of course, we mean by the "talk" of animals and birds the imitation of human speech. Because, as we know, most animals communicate with each other in their own way. In some cases, this is a very simple communication, in others, on the contrary, it is very complex, for example, with bees.

Oddly enough, but dolphins really imitate human speech. And they do it of their own accord. For example, in Florida there was a case when a dolphin suddenly reproduced a human voice. He did it so believably that the man's wife, who was nearby, could not help laughing. Then the dolphin repeated her laugh!

It's all about the structure of the vocal cords of dolphins, which allows them to make sounds that resemble human ones. But besides this, it is believed that dolphins are the most intelligent of all animals.

But in order to say that dolphins talk, they must understand how to use words in a meaningful way. But whether this is so, we do not know.

Which matches between Inter and Milan discredit the goal away rule?

In the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2003, Inter and Milan met. Since both clubs play at the same San Siro stadium, the draw determined that Milan would be the hosts in the first match, and Inter would be the hosts in the second. Both meetings ended in a draw - 0:0 and 1:1, but Milan reached the final because of the rule according to which, in the event of a tie in a two-legged confrontation, the team that scored more on a foreign field wins.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

32 Gb ReRAM chip 23.02.2013

Back in early January, the preliminary program of the ISSCC 2013 conference announced an interesting joint report by SanDisk and Toshiba on the development of the industry's first ReRAM chip (resistive memory) with a capacity of 32 Gbps. And now some detailed information about the new product has become available.

The chip was released using a 24nm process technology. The area of one cell is 24 x 24 nm, and the area of the entire crystal is 130,7 mm2. The memory page size is 2 kilobytes. The read and write latencies are 40 and 230 µs, respectively.

The traditional cross-point ReRAM architecture uses conductive metal oxides. Selective devices are located at the intersection of horizontal lines and vertical bit lines, and cells are formed in the same plane with other circuits. The new chip forms a two-layer array of memory cells on shared page registers and readout amplifiers. This made it possible to increase the density of the components. According to the source, this approach is similar to the technology of Matrix Semiconductor, which was bought by SanDisk.
