Voice informant Gnome for car

Section Car. Electronic devices. The purpose of this publication is to introduce readers to a currently little-known group of devices - speech informants. The principle of their operation is to reproduce voice messages recorded earlier, when exposed to the control inputs of the device. The manufacture of speech informants became possible due to the wide distribution and availability of modern element base - digital microcircuits of small and medium degrees of integration of the CMOS series, as well as inexpensive PROMs with a capacity of 2 Kbytes and higher. The scope of devices is quite wide - filling for toys, apartment talking calls, solid-state telephone answering machines, etc. The principles of digital sound processing are quite well described in [1], so we will not dwell on them. ... >>

1260 MHz converter

Section Radio reception. The advent of low-noise microwave transistors and diodes made it possible to significantly simplify the design of a converter designed to transfer amateur radio signals from 1260 MHz to 28 MHz. The converter consists (Fig. 1) of an RF amplifier, a mixer, a microwave heterodyne with quartz frequency stabilization and a supply voltage stabilizer. The RF amplifier is resonant, made on a transistor VT1. The input circuit consists of a coupling loop L1 inductively connected to a quarter-wave strip line L2, which forms an oscillatory circuit with capacitor C1. The signal enters the base of the transistor VT1 through the sub-tuning constructive capacitor C3. This makes it easy to change the coupling depth when tuning the amplifier and optimize its noise performance. ... >>

Balance modulator on varicaps

Section Nodes of amateur radio equipment. Modulators. In amateur shortwave equipment, balanced modulators based on semiconductor diodes, built according to a ring circuit, have found wide application. They provide deep suppression of signals, have a wide frequency range. However, when generating an SSB signal using a filter method, these advantages are not used. Indeed, there is no need to suppress the modulating low-frequency signal, since the modulator is always followed by a narrow-band filter. No need for broadband modulator ... >>

Using Apple Vision Pro during surgery 16.03.2024

The medical team at Cromwell Hospital in London used Apple Vision Pro for the first time during two spinal surgeries. This event confirms the headset's potential as a medical tool that will change the way surgical practice is performed. Although the doctors themselves did not use Vision Pro, the operating room nurse worked with virtual reality using glasses while preparing and performing procedures. The headset made it possible to view virtual screens in the operating room, select instruments and monitor the progress of the operation. Software developed by eXeX, a company that specializes in creating artificial intelligence-based applications for surgery, has significantly improved the patient care process. Using Apple Vision Pro opens up new opportunities for developing healthcare applications such as clinical education, surgical planning, training and medical imaging. Implementation of Apple Vision Pro in the medical industry ... >>

Carbon storage in the North Sea 16.03.2024

Norwegian Energy Minister Terje Åsland has announced the launch of the Longship project, which aims to create a central carbon dioxide storage facility in the North Sea. This ambitious project is valued at $2,6 billion and aims to apply CCS (carbon capture and storage) technology to mitigate the impact of climate change. Norway already has experience in CCS, thanks to the successful Sleipner and Snohvit projects, and is now looking to increase the amount of carbon sealed beneath the seabed. Longship's plan calls for capacity to capture and store 1,5 million tons of carbon annually over 25 years. Despite the positive outlook, there are concerns about the long-term consequences of such storage. However, proponents of the project argue that offshore carbon storage has a number of advantages, including minimal environmental impact. The Longship project is carried out with the participation of Equinor, Shell and TotalEnergies through the joint venture Northern Li ... >>

Mini-organs grown from human amniotic fluid 15.03.2024

An international team of scientists led by Professor Fan Xiulin from Zhejiang University has developed a unique method of growing mini-organs from cells found in human amniotic fluid. This significant medical breakthrough could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment of congenital diseases. The organoids, which are three-dimensional cellular structures that mimic organs on a smaller scale, were grown from lung, kidney and small intestine cells found in amniotic fluid. This method opens up new possibilities for studying various fetal conditions and may be the key to early diagnosis and treatment of birth defects. Although no treatment has yet been attempted, the scientists hope their research will help combat the serious congenital diseases that affect millions of newborns each year. This breakthrough could change medical interventions by making it possible to diagnose and treat congenital diseases. ... >>

Waterblock EK-Vector RX 5700 + XT 14.07.2019

EK Water Blocks has announced the release of the EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700+XT Water Block compatible with AMD Radeon RX 3 and 5700 XT reference 5700D cards. According to EK Water Blocks, liquid cooling allows these cards to be overclocked, boosting their performance for demanding games or other GPU-heavy tasks.

The waterblock cools the GPU, 8GB GDDR6 memory, and voltage regulators by covering the entire surface of the board. Its base is made of copper and nickel plated. The top, depending on the variety, is made of clear acrylic or black POM Acetal. Both varieties are decorated with RGB backlighting, but in the first case, it illuminates the entire lid, and in the second, only a decorative element on the end. In addition, the area with ports for connecting to other LSS components is highlighted.

The backlight is compatible with popular RGB sync technologies and is designed to connect to a four-pin connector. A single-width mounting plate is included in the delivery. A separate panel can be purchased that is mounted on the back of the PCB for additional cooling and giving the card a more aesthetic look.

Water blocks and back panels are already available for pre-order. Orders will start shipping July 26th. The EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT RGB - Nickel + Plexi water block costs approximately 130 euros, the EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT RGB - Nickel + Acetal - 125 euros. The EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT Backplate - Black panel is priced at around 27 euros, the EK-Vector Radeon RX 5700 +XT Backplate - Nickel is priced at 34 euros.
