PERSONAL TRANSPORT: GROUND, WATER, AIR
Device for razbortovki and beading tires. Personal transport Directory / Personal transport: land, water, air How many troubles for beginners (and not only) motorists are caused by the operation of dismantling and assembling car wheel tires! Bent rims, torn tire beads, camera mounts and even injured fingers are frequent companions of this work. Therefore, many car owners prefer to go to a car service and entrust it to specialists, which has its well-known negative sides. (In addition, as someone subtly noted: tire punctures happen more often, the farther from the car service you are). Taking into account all of the above, I set myself the task of developing a simple and small-sized device that works in tandem with a jack (available in any car kit) and facilitates tire disassembly and beading. Based on the reviews of car enthusiast friends who happened to use this manufactured device, and on the basis of personal experience, I can say that the task was solved quite successfully. The device consists of three parts (assembly units), which have a very simple design. They can be made by a do-it-yourself car enthusiast with basic locksmith skills. The device and the principle of operation of the device are clear from photographs and drawings.
Plank - a steel plate measuring 140x36x4 mm. To it, perpendicular to its plane, three threaded (M8) pins are welded: one in the middle and two at the ends. The extreme mounting pins are the same - simple threaded rods. The distance between them on the bar corresponds to the diameter of the circle along which the centers of the mounting holes of the car wheel disk are located (for the Zhiguli - 100 mm). The central pin is stepped: at the bottom of it is a shoulder-heel, above is a thickened part, at the top is a rod-axis with a thread at the end. The shoulder serves for better stability, the thickened part - for maintaining the rod at the height of the wheel rim, the rod-axle - for fixing one of the ends of the rod on the rod. Fastening the pins on the plate - in any way possible: on threads with lock nuts, riveting in square holes, etc., so long as the pins do not fly out and do not turn. I have these parts inserted into steep holes with a diameter of 8 mm in the plate and welded to it from below. In order to speed up the installation of the device on the wheel for the pins, the corresponding wing nuts are selected (if there are none, then you can get by with the usual ones). The bar is made of a steel bar with a diameter of 16 mm. One of its ends is sharpened according to the profile of the mounting blade and well polished. Nearby, behind the profile surface and in its plane, a hole with a diameter of 9 mm is drilled in the rod. The other end is bent in a heated state with a hook, and here, not far from the end, the same hole is also drilled, only its axis is perpendicular to the axis of the hole at the other end of the rod. The cable is steel. Its diameter is chosen so that it "doubly" easily passes through the lower hole in the heel support and in the longitudinal groove of the jack stand, into which it is inserted for work. The rope is tied into a ring. When working, it is better to leave the place of the ligament outside the "broaching" zone - throw it on a support (balloon wrench) or on the jack bracket.
The device for dismantling the tire operates as follows. First, a bar is fixed on the wheel disk with the help of extreme pins and wing nuts. Then the straight end of the rod is brought under the tire bead (like a mounting blade), and its bent end is put on the central pin of the bar and secured with a wing nut. Further, a “balloon” key (head up) is inserted into one of the windows closest to the bar in the wheel disk, and the lower outlet is thrown over it - a loop of the cable ring. Its other release, previously passed under the bar and into the heel hole, is superimposed on the jack bracket. After that, the jack is installed on the rod, and its handle rotates "up", i.e. clockwise. At the same time, the cable is "selected" and moves the rod with the jack to the place where the lower cable loop is attached (to the head of the balloon wrench), and the straight end of the rod brings the tire bead to the wheel rim. Then the balloon key is moved to another window and the operation continues. When replacing a tire, its second side is displayed in the same way on the same side of the disk. The force on the jack handle during this work is approximately the same as when lifting a car. To mount the tire on the wheel, the position of the bar changes. Now its bent end is inserted between the rim and the bead of the tire, and the straight end is attached to the central rod of the bar. The wrench, cable and jack positions remain the same as when the tire was removed.
The device is designed for the car jack "Zhiguli" type, but with the adjustment of some dimensions of parts it can be made for other jacks of various car brands. The use of the device is especially effective when mounting and dismounting tires with hard sides. But the most important thing is that not only the wheels and tires are preserved, but also the hands. The reliability of the device is ensured by the simplicity of its design. The mass of the device (without standard equipment) is a little more than half a kilogram; and fits in a tool bag along with a set of tools.
