This device, proposed by V. Sheinfinkel, uses jet thrust. It vaguely resembles a bicycle. There is also a frame, two pedals, only a chain and wheels are missing. But the swimmer's hands remain free.

The water jet bike is arranged as follows. The ends of the sleeve made of fabric-reinforced rubber are put on two rings connected by two guide posts. A carriage slides between the rings along the racks, on which the rotary levers are mounted, and pedals and elongated rollers are mounted on them. The mover on a tubular frame is attached to the swimmer's waist belt through a hinged lock. When the swimmer bends his knees, he pulls the pedal straps with his toes and turns the carriage levers at the same time. The levers turn on hinges, and together with them the rollers move away from the sleeve.

The released sleeve under the action of the elasticity of the rubber takes a cylindrical shape and is filled with water. The deflection of the levers with rollers is not unlimited - it is limited by the body of the carriage. The body of the carriage goes up along two guide posts. When the legs are straightened, the rollers converge, pinching the sleeve at the top point, and roll over it, pushing out the water. This assembly resembles the wringer rollers of a washing machine.

With each movement of the legs up and down, a full volume of water is pushed out of the sleeve. The water pushed out with force also moves the swimmer forward.

The lock-hinge allows, leaving the water, to tilt the device forward or backward, or completely disconnect it from the frame. By unfastening the belt, it is easy to remove the frame. For those who wish to make their own water jet bike, we report the technological data. Sleeve diameter 70-85 mm, length 750-800 mm. Both guide posts have the same length. They can serve as aluminum, plugged tubes with a diameter of 15-25 mm. A frame is also made from muffled tubes. The tubes simultaneously serve as floats, designed to balance the weight of the entire structure in the water, so that the buoyancy of the projectile is close to zero. If zero buoyancy is not ensured, it is necessary to increase the diameter of the tubes, or introduce additional floats, for example, under the pedals. The bottom bracket and bushings are best made from aluminium. Make rollers hollow or porous plastic.

A water jet bike increases the speed of a swimmer several times.
