PERSONAL TRANSPORT: GROUND, WATER, AIR
Log sailboat. Personal transport Directory / Personal transport: land, water, air A speedy windsurfer on land turns into an ordinary heavy board that is difficult to carry, inconvenient to transport, and no one knows where to store after the end of the summer season. But the most important thing is that not everyone can make even the simplest surfer on their own. So we propose to make a sailboat that would be devoid of these shortcomings. Its basis is inflatable children's "logs" for swimming. Their dimensions: length 1,2 m, diameter 0,25 m. You will also need a shell with a size of 3700x800 mm. Cut it out of oilcloth, as shown in Figure 5, and sew on a sewing machine so that you get "pockets". Insert duralumin pipes with a diameter of 35 mm and a length of 4010 mm into two long "pockets", and thread the braid into the short ones. Lay three "logs" one after another in the middle, wrap them in a cloth, connect the ends of the pipes with M6 bolts and then tighten the braid along the ends. The result was a float weighing about 5 kg and with a carrying capacity of over 90 kg. Two floats form the hull of the catamaran (Fig. 2). Connect them with a rectangular deck measuring 800x1000 mm made of plywood coated with bakelite varnish. The deck is attached to the stringer pipes with four clamps on M4 bolts. Sailing equipment can be installed usual for a windsurfer with an area of 5 square meters. m. On the back of the deck on a piece of pipe, put a swivel centerboard (Fig. 6) measuring 800x300x15 mm, sawing out a narrow groove for it. Our surfer-catamaran of six "logs" has a greater carrying capacity and allows you to make a two-seater version on its basis by installing two decks and two masts with sails. As can be seen in Figure 1, the design does not require significant changes. Only the decks have become longer - each with a size of 1000x1200 mm. And if one of the floats reduces the volume by wrapping only one "log" in the shell, you get a catamaran with an outrigger (Fig. 3). On it, the deck is on the main float, but shifted inward, which will give the ship more balance. The cases are connected by an duralumin tube with a diameter of 22 mm and a length of 1120 mm supported by 4 mm thick duralumin spacers. Outrigger stringers are two ski poles, slightly curved along its profile. Another innovation is a ski placed under the outrigger and acting as its flat bottom. Make it from a sheet of plywood measuring 1200x300 mm, bend the front part up, pulling it to the front of the stringers. Finally, one more design - a trimaran. It can be assembled according to the same scheme, but with outriggers on both sides. The connection of the floats into one housing is carried out using a transverse beam. All fastenings - on collars. Here are how many options for a sailing ship can be made, based on an ordinary children's "log". Author: N.
