Fans of motorsport have long been familiar with the term "rally". It is also known to speed car modellers - this is the name of one of the competitions of corded racing models, in which a miniature car must strictly maintain a given speed. And in the near future the word "rally" will appear in the vocabulary of copy car designers.

The new class attracts many car modellers. And most importantly - the ability to use standard engines without any forcing. When preparing such models for sea trials, another task comes to the fore - the creation of speed stabilizers.

Technical requirements and models of this class are not too burdensome even for a young designer. The scale of the copy can be expressed by any natural number (a multiple of one). The Technical Commission admits the model to the competition if its length, width, base and track, as well as wheel diameters, differ from the corresponding dimensions of the prototype, referred to the scale, by no more than 5%. The mass of the copy should not exceed 2 kg. It is allowed to install serial compression (diesel) microengines on the model with a working volume of not more than 2,5 cm3. The technical commission does not evaluate the model, but the "pass" to the cordodrome is high-quality painting and finishing, the presence of the main elements of the prototype. The modeler is obliged to present to the technical commission drawings of the car taken from any official source (book, magazine).

The athlete's performance is evaluated based on the sum of the results of three races, and if the model gets a “steering wheel” in one of them, the total score of three attempts will be exactly the same. The minimum ordered speed is determined by the panel of judges within 60-110 km/h.

Today we introduce you to the drawings and description of a training cord model of a buggy car, created in the Palace of Pioneers and Schoolchildren of the Pervomaisky District of Moscow under the guidance of the Master of Sports of the USSR N. N. Komarov.

The design of the cord model - a half-copy of a buggy car - was developed on the basis of an engine from the "Temp" set, which has a direct drive to the drive wheels.

The frame is curved from a steel sheet 1,5 mm thick. Its cross section is a channel. A duralumin boss with a Ø 6 mm through hole is fixed in the front part of the frame with four screws - the front axle, machined from 30KhGSA steel, is inserted into it. A spacer is needed to mount the Temp engine to the frame: it can be bent from a steel sheet with a thickness of about 2,5 mm. The engine is attached to the stub with M3 screws, the spacer is joined to the frame with the same screws.

The body is assembled from panels curved from galvanized roofing iron. The following manufacturing technology of the body is proposed. First, it is necessary to cut out all the body parts from thick paper (drawing paper) and bend them as shown in the figures. Further, all elements are fastened with pins or glue, in case of inconsistencies in their shape, they are adjusted in place - cut or glued. When the dimensions of the body panels are not in doubt, the contours of these parts are translated into metal. It remains to cut the blanks, bend them, make rifts and flanging - and the body can be assembled. First you need to dock the sidewalls with the top panel, then solder the wings and hood cover. The finished body is carefully cleaned, joints and dents are leveled with solder.

Now it's up to the security arcs. It is best to bend them out of steel wire Ø 4-5 mm. After mutual adjustment, they are connected by soldering. To install the arcs on the body, six holes are drilled in the top panel. Next, the arcs are inserted into them, riveted to the sidewalls, and the joints are soldered.

The hole in the front of the body is decorated with a grill - for example, from a transistor radio or assembled from segments of knitting needles.

The fuel tank measuring 25x20x60 mm is made of tinplate. Three tubes are soldered into it - filling, draining and engine power. Please note that the drain tube almost does not go inside the tank, and the filling tube is only 1 mm short of its bottom. The supply tube is located on the right side of the tank at the level of its bottom. The tank is attached to the model with two rubber rings to four hooks located on the bottom of the frame.

The "driver's seat" is best carefully cut out of PVC foam and painted in several layers with black or brown enamel. The steering wheel is bent from steel wire, the spokes are from tin.

The cord strip should be cut out of a steel sheet with a thickness of about 2 mm. Its width is 10-12 mm. At a distance of 225-255 mm from the plane of symmetry of the model, a hole is drilled in it for a carabiner of the Nordic thread. Before the final fastening of the bar, you should determine the location of the center of gravity of the model and fix the bar so that its axis coincides with it.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

When Music Kills 05.12.2012

According to American statistics, over the past six years, with the spread of MP3 players, the frequency of cases of pedestrians with headphones getting under the wheels has tripled. In 2004, 16 people died because of passion for music, and in 2011 - 47. Two-thirds of those killed or injured were young men, who are most inclined to listen to music on the road. They did not hear any beeps or the noise of an approaching car or train. In addition, loud music weakens attention to what a person sees around him.

You should also not talk on the go on a mobile phone. Of the 6000 Finns surveyed, 14% admitted that, carried away by a conversation, they can stumble on the stairs, "drive" into a lamppost or almost get hit by a car.
