To conduct year-round training not only without ... ice, but even without skates, simulators for skaters, designed by sports enthusiasts, allow.

Trains simulator

Runners, hockey players, figure skaters and everyone who wants to stand firmly on the ice should be able to maintain balance, control the correct position of the ankle and knee joints. It seems simple, until he got on his skates. You can immediately identify a beginner at the rink, only he manages to slide on the ice on the edges of his boots - it is so unusual for him to hold his foot correctly. Hence the rapid fatigue, and even the hasty conclusion: "No, I won't be a skater!"

There are a lot of simulators for teaching the technique of skating, but most often even the most successful designs are very complex. The head of the department of the Omsk Institute of Physical Education, master of sports V. Ilyin found an extremely simple solution.

On a wooden frame (approximate size 1000x400 mm, more accurate ones are selected depending on the age and height of the athlete) a plywood or textolite plate is fixed. It has two oblique (at an angle of 9-10°) windows cut through at a distance slightly greater than the width of the shoulders.

The cut pieces are slightly turned and inserted into the old places on the axles. The angle of their rotation is limited by elastic elements (springs or pieces of rubber), which are attached to the plate at one end, and to each of the movable platforms at the other. Restrictive stops (wooden blocks) are nailed to the outer sides of the windows.

In the manufacture of the simulator, it should be taken into account that the surface of the plate must be smooth and slippery - after all, for a while it will replace ice for you. The top surface of the plate is best polished and rubbed with graphite. Classes should be carried out in leather shoes (for better glide).

When performing simulation exercises, you slide with one foot, for example, the right one, first along the plate, then along the right turntable to the limit stop. To prevent the leg from turning up, it must be strained and directed perpendicular to the axis of the platform. Next, do the repulsion. At the same time, your right foot is on the movable platform and begins to turn with it. Meanwhile, the body moves slightly to the left, the position of the leg changes, however, in relation to the site, it should remain perpendicular. This small "trick", provided in the device, makes it possible to eliminate the curvature of the push line in the ankle and knee joints - a complete "feeling of the skate" is created. After repulsion, as soon as the leg is off the surface, the movable platform returns to its original position due to the rods. Now place your right foot on the stove and do the same with your left foot.

The device allows self-control of training. In fact, if you did not maintain balance at the very beginning on the "blade" axis, then all subsequent movements disappear automatically. Omsk athletes made 30 such simulators.

No power without technique

An employee of the Arkhangelsk Pedagogical Institute named after M. V. Lomonosov V. Druzhinin designed a simple device with which you can easily and quickly measure the power capabilities of a skater.

A good skater must have perfect technique, be hardy and certainly strong. You can “pump up” muscles with the help of dumbbells, barbells, etc., in this case, the concept of “strength” has a slightly different meaning.

Technique without strength is nothing, strength without technique is also nothing, and hence the whole point of good training: developing strength and registering efforts in the working position. The task seems to be impossible. The runner, hung with various load devices and power meters, will not go far. V. Druzhinin managed to reconcile the irreconcilable.

... Here the athlete put his hand on the lower back and rested his shoulder on the spring-loaded support, while he puts one leg on the support platform, and brings the other back and relaxes, then the position of the body changes. There is a complete impression that the athlete is running on ice, although classes are being held on a special simulator. The trainee strives to take exactly the same posture as if he were running along the ice track. At the same time, the athlete must imitate an economical, but strong and energetic push with the foot. Spring-loaded shoulder rests measure the "zeal" of the athlete on a special scale, pre-calibrated.

It is quite easy to make such a simple but indispensable simulator.

The basis of the device is a frame tilted forward by 15°. In its lower corners there are supports with a groove for the skate skid. Replaceable supports - to increase and decrease the distance between the shoulder and the foot, as well as to correct the difference in leg length. In the upper part of the side posts, spring-loaded brackets are fixed, against which the skater rests with his shoulder. On the upper crossbar, extensions are mounted, which are connected through the slats to the brackets with the help of rods.

The cross section of the frame bars made of birch or pine is 80x120 mm. Dimensions: bottom bar - 1450 mm top - 900 mm, side posts - 1200 mm. The corners of the frame are fastened with M8 bolts through steel plates. The length of the brace rod should be equal to the sum of the length of the spring, the thickness of the side post plus 3-5 cm. The spring compression force indicator must be calibrated taking into account the friction force of the rod in the hole (factor 0,2). During the operation of the simulator, it is necessary from time to time to lubricate the rubbing nodes, tighten the threaded connections.

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Dove visual memory 12.04.2007

Employees of the Mediterranean Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in Marseille (France) studied the visual memory of pigeons.

By showing birds hundreds of images and teaching them to peck at a certain button if the picture is already familiar, psychologists have found that a pigeon's visual memory can store up to 1200 images. Given the very small size of the brain of a pigeon, this is very good. For example, baboons are able to memorize up to 6000 images.

What explains such a good visual memory of pigeons is not yet clear, but it is assumed that it helps birds in navigation.
