How much fun it gives the guys in the winter skiing from the mountains. The technical arsenal of this type of leisure is replenished every year: sleds of various designs, snow scooters, snowmobiles and many others. With the advent of spring, it is the turn of wheeled transport: bicycles, scooters, skateboards. Those who like skiing from the mountains make summer sleds for themselves - the simplest wooden carts on bearing wheels. With a roar they rush down the slope along the asphalt paths. And it's good if this "track" runs away from a city street, a busy sidewalk, where the "racer" on his, devoid of brakes projectile is not endangered. But it’s better not to rely on chance, but to try to make this entertainment useful and safe: make simple single-seat carts with steering and brakes, choose a convenient and safe track and organize sports competitions there.

Competitions on mini-cars - as these light cars are called - are very popular among both young athletes and numerous fans. Squat, carefully trimmed cars line up on the starting line. At the command of the judge, the athletes quickly accelerate their projectile and, famously jumping into the saddle, begin a rapid descent. Despite the absence of motors, the speed of movement is increasing. And here the maximum driving skills, dexterity and eye are required from the young racer in order to overtake the opponent and come to the finish line first. Last but not least, the design of the machine determines the success. It must have reliable steering and brakes, minimal resistance to movement and at the same time be accessible for self-production. These requirements are met by the designs of the mini-carr, which we introduce today to the readers of "M-K".

Figure 1 shows a mini-car diagram for the youngest riders. Its rectangular frame is assembled from wooden blocks with a section of 50x50 mm. The rear wheels are mounted freely on the axis of the transverse beam, and the front wheels - on the steering knuckles. The long steering shaft rests on the cross beams of the frame with two brackets. A steering wheel is attached to its upper part, and a cable drum or a swivel bipod, depending on the type of mechanism chosen, is attached to its lower part.

A simple mini car: 1 - front wheel, 2 - steering gear, 3 - steering shaft, 4 - brake pedal, 5 - steering shaft upper bracket, 6 - seat. 7 - brake lever, 8 - return spring, 9 - rear axle beam, 10 - frame longitudinal bars, 11 - brake cable, 12 - equalizer, 13 - transverse link, 14 - front wheel beam

Even the simplest mini-car must be equipped with brakes. The drive on them, as well as on the car, is foot. The pedal, the bracket of which is attached to the cross beam of the frame, with the help of a steel cable through an equalizing force roller acts on the working levers, and they, in turn, press the rubber brake pads directly to the rear wheels. For reverse travel, each lever is equipped with a return spring.

The seat is made of two plywood sheets covered with sheet foam and covered with oilcloth or leatherette. The seat back is installed with a strong tilt back. This increases cornering stability and reduces air resistance.

Figure 2 is another minicar diagram. On its wooden frame, also assembled from square bars, the wheels are mounted using metal frame brackets. Each of them is bent to the size of a wheel from a steel strip 3 mm thick and 40 mm wide. Holes drilled in the middle of the long sides serve to install the wheel axle. This method of fastening the wheels is exposed to greater rigidity and reliability. In the rear of the frame, these frames are fixedly mounted between two transverse beams, and in the front - on a vertical hinge and are connected by a transverse rod. The plate, fixed in its middle, has a vertical groove where the steering shaft crank enters. Brake control - from the pedal located to the right of the steering wheel. The drive is cable, on the brakes from a sports bike mounted on the rear wheels. "Dutiks" from a children's bicycle give the machine good stability and smoothness.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Toshiba Canvio Alu Portable Drive 26.08.2014

Toshiba's European Storage Peripherals (TEG) division announced the launch of the new Canvio Alu USB 3.0 portable high-speed drive. The novelty is designed to save users from worrying about the safety of data - a durable aluminum case and automatic backup function will take care of this, Toshiba told CNews. In addition, the Canvio Alu is equipped with a built-in shock sensor and supports ramp loading technology, which reduces the risk of data corruption due to shocks or drops.

The Canvio Alu will be available in black and silver. Style and massive capacity (up to 2TB) make it the perfect companion for travel, school, home or anywhere else. The whole device is maximum 230g.

Support for the intuitive NTI software solution allows Canvio Alu to automatically back up data and restore up to 2TB of data if needed. NTI constantly scans the folders and files on the drive, offering an easy, customizable way to store exactly the information the user needs. In addition, using the program, you can set up an automatic backup schedule. The Canvio Alu has a high-speed USB 3.0 interface and is compatible with previous generation USB 2.0 ports.

"In today's information-driven world, consumers need storage solutions that combine cutting-edge design, reliability and speed. Canvio Alu drives have been designed to combine functionality and aesthetics, providing the user with a means to store and protect important information. ", - said Arnaud Bonvarlet (Arnaud Bonvarlet), general manager of data storage department of the European division of Toshiba.

The Canvio Alu will begin shipping in September at MSRPs of $70 for the 500GB model, $90 for the 1TB model, and $145 for the 2TB model. All models are supplied in a compact aluminum case.

The drive will be compatible with Microsoft Windows 8.1, 8 and 7 operating systems and will have a maximum data transfer rate of 5 Gb/s. In addition, HFS+ formatting will be supported for use with Apple products. All drives come with a two-year limited warranty.
