Motorcycles of the brand "Izh" and "Java" can be quite easily transferred to batteryless ignition. I did it seven years ago, and so far - no complaints. What is necessary? If the motorcycle has 6 V electrical equipment, then a 7 V generator kit is from Minsk or the old Voskhod (with contact or electronic ignition); if at 12 V, then at 14 V - from the new Voskhod. Moreover, the generator rotors can be both with removable and non-removable cams (in the first case, the installation procedure is simpler). For 2-cylinder engines (with electronic ignition), one more sensor coil and one more electronic switch will be additionally required. Finally, adapter flanges machined from steel on a lathe and hand-sawn, with a configuration depending on the brand of motorcycle.

The conversion sequence is as follows. First, the old generator with a relay-regulator and capacitors is dismantled, the key is removed from the crankshaft.

Then a new generator is prepared for installation. To do this, it is somewhat modernized: a key is removed from the removable cam of the rotor (if left, the rotor will be installed, as with a fixed cam), and one of the mounting ears is cut off from the stator, since it will interfere with the protective cover of the crankcase. Thus, for example, in Java with 6 V electrical equipment, the stator is attached to the flange with just two M5 bolts.

The generator stator of a 2-cylinder engine is subjected to a more significant upgrade: in order to place the second sensor coil, a special socket is cut opposite the first one (this is best done during adjustment).

Before assembly, for the subsequent convenience of fixing the stator, roughly determine the top dead center (TDC) of a single-cylinder or right-hand piston of a 2-cylinder engine and attach an adapter flange to the crankcase.

On the crankshaft trunnion, if the protective cover of the crankcase fits snugly, they put on and center, turning the crankshaft, the rotor of the new generator (the spark plugs are removed for ease). Tighten to the end before only the baited regular axle bolt. So that at this moment the crankshaft does not scroll, the gearbox is turned on and the rear wheel is jammed (they put, say, a hammer handle into the spokes).

Having fixed the rotor, the moment of sparking is determined, that is, the position when the piston in the Java-350 engine does not reach TDC by 2,8 ... 3,3 mm, Java-250 - 3,3 ... 3,7, 3,0 mm, single-cylinder "Izha" - 3,5 ... 2 mm, 2,5-cylinder - 3,1 ... 0,3 mm (in this position, the groove on the rotor must be aligned with the protrusion on the frame of the sensor coil, and the gap between them should be within 0,05 ± XNUMX mm). Then the stator is finally fixed.

The piston of the left cylinder is set in a similar way for 2-cylinder motorcycles. The second coil of the sensor is applied to the stator so that the protrusion of its frame is located opposite the groove on the rotor. A nest is outlined, it is cut out and the coil is fixed with screws, maintaining a gap of 0,3 ± 0,05 mm.

For a complete set on a converted motorcycle, a sound signal and a turn relay from "Minsk" or "Voskhod" are used, operating on alternating current.

Connect a new generator according to the above diagram. In this case, the old electrical wiring is used. The switches are installed in the box where the battery was located.

And the last. The circuit does not require maintenance during operation and is configured once - during installation.

ISSATA Limited has developed two models of power supplies for Armstrong and similar luminaires, which meet Russian regulatory requirements for light ripple factor and have power factor correction (PFC).
