MMVZ-3 115 engines are often used on karts and - with the appropriate modernization of the air cooling system - on motoblocks and microtractors. Among the works on their maintenance there is such as the installation of the ignition. At first glance, it is simple: the ignition moment specified in the instructions for the engine corresponds to such a position of the sensor rotor when its longitudinal groove coincides with the protrusion on the sensor winding frame. But this is not always the case: a spark occurs either earlier or later than expected. Apparently, due to the spread of the electrical parameters of the switch.

To set the correct ignition timing, you can use more reliable systems - with stroboscopes, but the easiest way to do this is as follows.

We insert a high-voltage spark plug wire of such a length into the ignition coil that it is enough to reach the rotor, and set the ignition as recommended in the instructions: the advance value is 3-3,5 mm to top dead center (TDC) and the position of the protrusion on the frame of the sensor winding is opposite the groove in the tail of the rotor.

We expose the ignition
The moment of spark occurrence: 1 - stator, 2 - rotor, 3 - longitudinal groove, 4 - bare end of the high-voltage wire, 5 - plasticine, 6 - sensor winding

And now we attach to the coil (you can even use plasticine) a high-voltage wire with a bare end so that it is 3-4 mm away from the rotor. By rotating the rear wheels with the direct gear engaged (go-kart, walk-behind tractor on a stand), you can see the moment a spark occurs (the test must be carried out in a darkened room). The spark should jump towards the rotor just when the groove is aligned with the bare end of the wire. If it occurs earlier or later, that is, it does not fall into the groove, but nearby, then an amendment must be made - make a mark on the rotor with a chisel, along which to set the ignition in the future, turning the generator stator in one direction or another.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Found an explanation for the origin of diamond deposits 12.05.2023

Scientists from the University of Wollongong (Australia) have found that the rise of diamonds from the bowels of the Earth to the surface occurs as a result of kimberlite eruptions due to giant heat columns emanating from a depth of 2900 kilometers near the planet's core.

Kimberlite eruptions, leaving behind a diamond deposit in the form of a pipe in the earth's crust, have occurred hundreds of times over the past 200 million years. Signs of eruptions have been found around the world, including 788 in Canada, 158 in South Africa, 71 in Angola and 70 in Brazil. In the 1980s, it was shown that kimberlite eruptions could be associated with small mantle plumes between the mantle and the core.

The researchers used supercomputers to build XNUMXD geodynamic models of global mantle convection over a billion years, including that associated with the subduction zone where the Pacific Plate is subducting under the continental South American Plate.

It turned out that the very deep layers of the Earth are connected to the surface with the help of wide mantle upwellings, i.e. ascending hot flows that explain most of the kimberlite eruptions over the past two hundred years.
