The increased interest of motorists in cargo trailers is quite understandable. Still, this device, which significantly expands the capabilities of a passenger car, is indispensable for any household, and first of all for rural residents and owners of garden and summer cottages. True, it is difficult to buy such a trailer in stores, but making it yourself is not too difficult.

In our club of amateur technical creativity in the city of Sosnovoborsk (Krasnoyarsk Territory), an optimal design of such a trailer was developed, which fully meets all the requirements for this kind of equipment. It has a completely "factory" appearance and is equipped with a passive braking system (the so-called "overrun brake"), which significantly increases the safety of towing a trailer on long descents, mountain roads and during emergency braking.

Here are the main structural components of the trailer: a frame with a drawbar, a body, a torsion bar suspension, a braking device, a towing device, an awning with arches, a support device, an electrical equipment and light signaling system.

Trailer frame - rectangular in plan, welded from steel billets. It consists of two beams-spars and three crossbars. All these details are made of a steel channel with a section of 25x50 mm.

At the front converging ends of the spars, a coupling device is fixed; brackets for mounting shock absorbers are located on the middle cross member; Brackets for mounting the rear bumper are mounted on the rear.

The chassis is made using wheels and a torsion bar suspension (front axle) from a motorized carriage FDD. In addition to torsion bars, the suspension is supplemented with spring-hydraulic shock absorbers from a Ural type motorcycle.

The towing device is standard, it is made in accordance with the ball joint installed on the tractor vehicle. The body of the coupling device is not rigidly fixed to the drawbar, as on serial trailers, but movably, which allows the transfer of inertial forces arising during braking to the hydraulic brake system. It works as follows. A lever is fixed on the spherical hitch of the trailer, the upper end of which is connected by a rod to the main brake cylinder. When braking the car, inertial forces tend to compress two springs designed for a force of 500 kgf; the coupling device thus moves along two guides. The travel of the springs is about 50 mm. In this case, the brake fluid is pumped from the master brake cylinder into the brake system and, accordingly, the trailer is braked. It is characteristic that its braking system is adjusted in such a way that the wheels do not lock even during emergency braking of the car.

The trailer body is welded from 0,7 mm thick sheet steel; the ribs and upper edges of the body are reinforced with steel corners. The bottom of the body is made of XNUMX mm plywood reinforced with steel strips. On the upper trim of the sides there are nests for installing arches, as well as hooks for attaching the awning.

The trailer is equipped with a spare wheel fixed on the front wall of the body.

Wiring is made according to a single-wire circuit with connection to the vehicle's on-board network of all necessary lighting devices - position lights, brake lights and direction indicators. Retroreflectors-reflectors are mounted on the front, side and rear sides.

Construction of the road from solar panels is being completed 26.12.2017

In the near future, work will be completed in China to create a fairly long section of the road covered with solar panels. The project is being implemented in Jinan, a city of sub-provincial significance, which is located in the northwestern part of Shandong province on the Yellow River. The length of the road with solar panels is about 2 km.

The coating consists of several layers. At the top is the so-called "transparent concrete": this material transmits light, and in terms of structural properties it is close to ordinary asphalt.

Under the "transparent concrete" are the actual panels with solar cells, which generate electricity. Finally, at the bottom is an insulating substrate.

At present, the installation of all elements has been completed, and specialists are carrying out work on connecting to the electrical network. It is assumed that in the future such highways will be able not only to provide electricity to road infrastructure facilities, but also to wirelessly recharge passing electric vehicles (provided that the necessary components of the energy transmission system are installed). The coating is strong enough to support the weight of trucks.

The world's first solar-powered highway opened in France about a year ago. The experimental section of the road has a length of 1 km, and the total area of solar panels is 2800 m2. An estimated 280 MWh of energy can be generated annually from solar panels. It can be used, say, to illuminate city streets at night.
