There are a lot of reasons for the breakdown of a regular jet on a microengine. And it is far from always possible to make, and even quickly, a new turned micro-detail.

But it turns out that it is not at all necessary to engage in jewelry turning work! It is enough to pick up two small pieces of metal tubes (they must be suitable for soldering, so aluminum ones will not work), one with an outer Ø 4 mm, the other Ø 2,5-3 mm. In a larger one, almost half the length, an M2,5 internal thread is cut, and at the ends - an external M4 thread, preferably fine. A spraying transverse hole Ø 1 mm is drilled in the middle; on the side opposite the internal thread, a hole is drilled for a thin tube, after which the latter is inserted and sealed. Its end will act as the saddle of the jet needle. And make the needle itself from a suitable piece of knitting needle Ø 2,5 mm, but most often you still manage to use a regular one, which, as a rule, remains unharmed.

When turning a new needle, pay attention to the correct shape of the cone. The fixation of the needle from turning away when the engine is running is arbitrary. For example: a corrugated "wheel"-nut from an unnecessary drawing pen is soldered onto the needle, and a "flag" is placed under the jet housing fastening nut, similar to that installed on the MK-12V micromotor.

Restoration of the jet
Restored jet of a model microengine: 1 - needle (steel), 2 - nut, 3 - jet body (tube outer Ø 4 mm, steel, copper, brass), 4 - carburetor part of the engine crankcase, 5 - fitting pipe outer Ø 2,5 - 3 mm (steel, copper, brass).

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Nuvem transatlantic fiber optic internet cable 29.09.2023

Google has announced the launch of an innovative transatlantic fiber optic cable called Nuvem. This project aims to establish high-quality Internet connections between the United States, Portugal and Bermuda. It is designed to provide more reliable transatlantic communications in the face of growing demand for digital services. So far, the detailed technical characteristics of the new cable system remain unknown.

In recent years, the Bermuda government has taken steps to attract investment in submarine cable infrastructure and develop a digital hub in the Atlantic Ocean. This became part of the support for relevant initiatives at the legislative level. Nuvem is not the first communications cable to be built in Bermuda, but it will be the only one connecting the islands to Europe. Local authorities have actively sought to make the islands an interconnection hub for submarine cables from the Americas, Europe and Africa, similar to the role Guam plays in the Pacific.

Portugal was chosen as the cable landing point not only because of its strategic geographic location, but also because of the country's active efforts to strengthen its digital economy infrastructure. It has received the status of Europe's "digital gateway" and is making significant investments in the development of cable infrastructure. These information highways are expected to catalyze growth in many high-tech sectors.

In the United States, the cable will be laid on the coast of South Carolina. The project also aims to transform the region into an emerging technology hub. Recently, laying of the Firmina cable has already begun here, which will connect this state with Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. Nuvem is planned to be ready for operation by 2026. Combined with the Firmina and Equiano projects, this cable will create new digital routes connecting North and South America, Europe and Africa.

In May of this year, the European Union announced its intention to build an undersea Internet cable in the Black Sea. The cost of this project is estimated at 45 million euros, the length will be 1100 kilometers, and it will connect EU member states with the Caucasus region through international neutral waters.
