21. INDICATORS OF CRIME AND METHODS OF THEIR DETERMINATION
The main indicators of crime are:
1) state of crime - the number of crimes and the persons who committed them in a certain territory for a certain time;
2) coefficient, or level, of crime - the total number of registered crimes for a certain time and in a certain territory.
K \uXNUMXd (P / N) BW,
where K is the crime rate; P - number of crimes; N - the number of people who have reached the age of criminal responsibility living in the territory for which the coefficient is calculated; B - coefficient (usually 100,000);
3) crime structure - is revealed through its internal content - the ratio in the total array of crimes and criminals, their various types and categories, identified on various legal, criminological grounds.
From this point of view crimes are divided into: intentional and reckless; severe, less severe, etc.; with and without motivation; urban and rural crime; in industry, trade, etc.; by object; by subject; according to the age; by the number of participants, etc. Structuring can have a multi-level character (for example, rural male crime).
4) crime dynamics - changes in crime (state, level, structure, etc.) over time. Determining the dynamics of crime has the following goals:
1) establish patterns inherent in crime;
2) most accurately predict the state of crime in the future.
The dynamics is influenced by social factors (revolutions, coups, etc.), legal factors (introduction of a new Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, etc.), organizational and legal changes (number of policemen, courts, judicial practice). None of the above factors is self-sufficient, they are all studied together.
Additional indicators of crime are:
1) volume of crime - the absolute number of crimes committed in a certain territory for a certain period;
2) nature of crime - is determined by what is the share of the most dangerous crimes in the structure of crime or what is the characteristic of the personality of those who commit crimes. He also points to the social danger of crime. A direct indicator of public danger is the severity of the average crime, and an indirect indicator is the criminal record index.
D=di/p,
where D is the severity of the average crime; d. - the sum of all values of the amount of punishment assigned to an individual convicted person; p is the total number of people sentenced to criminal penalties for the year;
Ip=p x 105/N;
where Ip is the criminal record index;
p is the number of persons convicted by sentences that have entered into legal force to suspended sentences for a certain period and in a certain territory;
N is the number of the population aged 14 living in the given territory;
3) geography of crime - the difference in the characteristics of crime, due to the social and economic conditions of different regions;
4) crime timekeeping - some crimes increase in certain seasons, time of day.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven
09.05.2024
Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship
08.05.2024
Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>
Random news from the Archive Polysexual mushroom
01.05.2022
We are used to the fact that living beings have only two sexes. It happens that both sexes are combined in one individual, then this is called hermaphroditism. It happens that there are no sexes - such organisms reproduce asexually.
But it also happens that there can be three or more sexes - much, much more. As, for example, in mushrooms from the genus Trihaptum, in which researchers from the University of Oslo and their colleagues from Spain and the USA counted 17550 sexes. Mushrooms themselves are not so exotic - they are related to tinder fungi and their range is very wide; one of the trihaptums grows on birch trees and is found throughout the country. How come they have so many genders and what does that even mean?
The meaning of sexual reproduction, in addition to getting an individual of a new generation, is in mixing genetic material. The germ cells of one sex merge with the germ cells of the other sex, and an organism is obtained with a new combination of genes. The more diverse the combinations of different individuals in a population, the more likely the population as a whole is to survive. Sex chromosomes, body structure - from a biological point of view, these are just ways to solve the problem of shuffling the genetic deck. In order to arrange such a shuffling, the sex apparatus determines with whom you can merge with sex cells and with whom you cannot.
Basidiomycete fungi, which include Trihaptums, tinder fungi, fly agaric, and ceps, reproduce by spores, which can be somewhat likened to our germ cells: their spores also carry not a double, but a single set of chromosomes. Fungal hyphae germinate from these spores - they also have a single set of chromosomes. At some point, hyphae from one spore meet hyphae from another spore, and that's when they either fuse together or they don't. Only the hyphae of certain different sexes can merge, which, as we said, in Trihaptum not two, but more than 17 thousand.
To count the number of mushroom floors, one had to wait until especially advanced methods of DNA analysis appeared. For a relatively long time, it was known that the sex of Trihaptums depends on two regions in the genome, which are called MATA and MATB, and each of which has many genes with different allele variants. For heterosexual fusion to take place, both regions must differ to some extent in these alleles.
It was possible to evaluate the differences between MATA and MATB in different specimens only with the advent of sufficiently cheap and sufficiently accurate methods for reading (sequencing) DNA, which made it possible to very accurately read short sections of DNA in order to then assemble them into a longer final sequence.
