Fujitsu has announced the release of the ETERNUS CD10000 storage to the global market, which, according to the developers, is an ideal system for storing large amounts of data. By adding nodes, which are a combination of drives with controllers, the device's capacity can be scaled up to 56 petabytes.
The new model is the most capacious storage in the Fujitsu ETERNUS Series product line. Up to 244 nodes can be combined into one system. In addition, each new node can be added without the need to stop the entire system, i.e. without downtime. The Ceph distributed file system used allows, with a slight impact on system performance, to provide a tangible increase in reliability.
It is also noted that this is the first Fujitsu product to support the so-called object access method, which provides greater flexibility in data management. The use of ETERNUS CD10000 in private cloud platforms that are based on OpenStack is envisaged.
