Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

General labor protection requirements are set out in the instructions "General requirements for labor protection for workers engaged in logging and forestry work".

2. Labor protection requirements before starting work

2.1. Before starting work, you must:

  • inspect the log loader and winches, shuttle grips, tension and cargo towers, remote control;
  • check the condition of the traction ropes, their tension and reliability of fastening to the winch drum and shuttle grips;
  • check the reliability of the fastening of the cargo tuer, which takes significant loads during the operation of the installation;
  • check the serviceability of grounding and fencing of winches, sound alarm;
  • inspect winch brakes;
  • close the sides of the hood, securing them with locks;
  • make sure that there are no foreign objects on the tracks, wheels and under the tractor;
  • make sure that there are no people in the way of the tractor and pulled whips;
  • give a warning signal.

2.2. If the brakes on the winch of the unloading and pulling installation are unreliable, and the sound signal is faulty, it is prohibited to unload the timber transport.

2.3. After making sure that all the installation mechanisms are in good condition, you should check the operation of the shuttle grippers at idle.

2.4. Faults found during the inspection and trial operation of the installation, if it is impossible to eliminate them on their own, should be reported to the foreman or mechanic.

2.5. It is forbidden to work on faulty equipment.

3. Labor protection requirements during work

3.1. The employee must perform only the work that is entrusted to him by his immediate supervisor.

3.2. During work, you must be careful and not be distracted from your direct duties.

3.3. Before the logging rolling stock is delivered for unloading, it is necessary to inspect and put in order the section of the logging track opposite the unloading site, clearing it of wood residues, snow and ice. Shuttle grippers must be moved to their original position to the edge of the unloading rack.

3.4. Timber rolling stock for unloading is installed at the direction and signal of the worker in such a way that when unloading with the help of LT-10, both branches of the traction ropes of the installation are evenly loaded.

3.5. In order to avoid tipping over of the timber rolling stock during unloading by pulling, the ends of the bunkies can be fastened with anchored chains or cables from the side opposite the unloading platform.

3.6. Prior to the unloading of the timber rolling stock, it is necessary to make sure that the locks, racks are in good condition and intact, and to take measures against arbitrary rolling of the unloaded cargo.

3.7. Road trains with faulty racks or locking devices must be unloaded in the presence of a foreman using additional mechanisms or devices that prevent arbitrary rolling of the load from the unloaded train.

3.8. Vehicles placed under unloading must be braked by hand brakes. The use of wag and logs for this purpose is prohibited.

3.9. The slinging of a pack of whips must be carried out with the bunk posts closed. After slinging a pack of whips, it is necessary to tighten the howling system of unloading cables and only after that open the locks.

3.10. When opening rack-mount locks, you must be on the opposite side from unloading.

3.11. Before starting to pull off a pack of whips or throw them over, make sure that there are no people in the path of the pack and give a signal to turn on the installation or the log loader.

Before unloading the timber rolling stock, it is necessary to warn the driver about the need to move to a safe place from the load being moved.

3.12. When performing unloading operations, it is necessary:

  • move a pack of whips from the bunks of the logging rolling stock smoothly, without jerks, avoiding overloading one of the branches of the traction rope of the installation;
  • not allow simultaneous movement of several packs of whips on the unloading platform;
  • when moving a pack of whips with the help of unloading slings, the working stops of the shuttle grippers must be recessed and closed with locking devices.

3.13. In the process of unloading, the worker must be at least 5 m away from the ends of the bundle of whips being unloaded.

3.14. When performing unloading operations, it is prohibited:

  • allow unauthorized persons to enter the area of operation of the unloading and hauling unit of the log loader;
  • transfer control of the unit and the log loader to unauthorized persons;
  • allow persons who do not have the rights of a slinger to sling the cargo;
  • unload timber rolling stock if there is a driver or unauthorized persons in the cab of the vehicle;
  • work when the traction rope is worn more than allowed by the standards;
  • leave whips (trees) hanging from the unloading platform;
  • work in an unlit area.

3.15. If one of the ends of the whip is pulled over, the conveyor must be stopped immediately and the switch turned off. After that, you should start leveling the whip.

3.16. When unloading (reloading) rolling stock with a jaw logger, two methods can be used: unloading whips (trees) in the reverse order of loading, without opening the locks of the bunk racks; unloading of the rolling stock with opening of the locks of the bunk racks.

If timber is unloaded in the reverse order of loading without opening the locks of the bunk racks, the operator must be guided by the requirements of the "Labor Safety Instructions for the Jaw Logger Operator".

When unloading the rolling stock with opening the locks of the bunk racks, the following requirements must be observed:

  • the jaw logger should be on the opposite side of the unloading, resting the working body against a pack of whips. Only after that, the driver must open the locks of the bunk racks, moving from the front rack to the rear;
  • pushing the log loader onto a pack of whips to push it off the horses, the driver must take care not to damage the rolling stock;
  • if necessary, you should go around the rolling stock and carry out the transfer of wood from the unloading side.

4. Labor protection requirements in emergency situations

4.1. If a malfunction occurs or is detected (if the strands of the traction ropes break, the limit switch, the sound signal fail, the flexible overhead cable and the push-button control station are damaged, the rope is wound incorrectly on the winch drum, if the blocks of the tension and cargo tuer break), it is necessary to stop work immediately installation.

4.2. If the loader's instruments indicate insufficient oil pressure in the engine or an increased temperature of the coolant, you must immediately stop the tractor and turn off the engine. Next, you need to identify the malfunction and take measures to eliminate it.

Open the radiator cap to check the coolant level with extreme caution, avoiding burns. First, loosen it by releasing steam, and then remove the cap on the neck. In this case, you need to work only in mittens.

4.3. In the event of a fire, a fire extinguisher must be used to extinguish the flame.

4.4. If the front door of the loader is jammed, it is necessary to squeeze out or knock out the windshield and leave the cab.

4.5. At the "stop" signal, you should immediately stop the installation or the loader, regardless of who gave this signal.

4.6. If it is necessary to eliminate a malfunction that has arisen during operation and carry out maintenance, turn off the engine of the unit or loader.

4.7. The victim or eyewitness must notify the foreman or the appropriate work manager of each accident.

4.8. Each worker must be able to provide first aid. Assistance must be provided immediately at the scene of the incident. The first step is to eliminate the source of injury (turn off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the whip, etc.).

The provision of assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens the health or life of a person: in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, you should first bandage the wound, and then apply a splint; for burns, apply a dry bandage; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues.

If spinal injuries are suspected, the victim can only be transported in the supine position on a rigid base.

After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility.

5. Labor protection requirements at the end of work

5.1. Upon completion of work, you should:

  • move the jaw grips to their original position so that they are not under the pack of whips and are clearly visible;
  • turn off the switch;
  • inspect winches and cable-block equipment.

5.2. The driver must:

  • clean the log loader from dirt;
  • put it in the place designated for parking;
  • lower the arrow; slow down the loader;
  • put the levers in the neutral position;
  • at sub-zero air temperatures, drain water from the cooling systems;
  • close the tractor cab.

5.3. Together with other employees of the lower warehouse, remove small whips, trimmings, branches that fell during unloading and clean the access roads from debris and logging waste.

5.4. Any deficiencies in the field of labor protection must be reported to the foreman or the relevant work manager.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

What do computers breathe? 17.12.2009

According to a group of British experts, in 2007 computers, printers, other peripheral devices, cell phones and other modern information devices were responsible for the emission of 830 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which leads to climate warming.

That's about 2% of all human-caused carbon dioxide emissions, the same amount as all of the world's aviation. A quarter of "computer" CO2 occurs in the production of this electronic equipment, three quarters - in the process of its use, due to the consumption of electricity, obtained mainly by burning oil and coal.

Experts predict that until 2020, when every third person will acquire a personal computer, and every second inhabitant of the Earth will acquire a mobile phone, the volume of these emissions will grow by 6% annually. After 2020, emissions growth will slow down due to the saturation of the electronics market.
