1. General safety requirements

1.1. Instructed personnel are allowed to work as knife sharpeners.

1.2. The installation of grinding wheels is entrusted to repair personnel (mechanic) after familiarizing him with these instructions.

1.3. When carrying out work on sharpening knives on sharpening machines, there is a danger of them breaking the emery wheel from centrifugal force. Therefore, the existing legislation stipulates that stones and wheels that are put back into use, in addition to external inspection for the absence of cracks, must be tested within 0,5 hours. In this case, the rotation speed of the circle or stone should exceed the working speed: for stones - by 50 rps, for circles - by 75 rps. Only circles and stones operating at a peripheral speed of no more than 6 m/s, as well as stones and circles with a diameter of no more than 100 mm, are not subject to mandatory testing. However, tested stones and circles also do not guarantee against rupture if:

a) storing them prior to installation on the machine was incorrect;

b) they were installed in violation of safety regulations;

c) they were operated in violation of safety regulations.

1.4. Persons unrelated to the work being performed are not allowed to sharpen knives.

Do not delegate this work to others.

1.5. When performing work on sharpening knives, the following hazardous production factors may arise:

  • open rotating parts of the grinding machine;
  • flying particles;
  • increased voltage of the electrical network;
  • sharp edges, burrs, rough workpiece surface;
  • increased dustiness of the working area;
  • insufficient illumination of the workplace.

1.6. The sharpener must use the following personal protective equipment:

  • cotton suit;
  • leather boots;
  • goggles.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Before starting work, check:

  • completeness and reliability of fastening parts;
  • check the serviceability of the electric cable, knife switch (switch);
  • check the operation of the machine at idle;
  • check the fastening of the grinding wheel.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Wear safety goggles or lower a protective shield to prevent mineral dust or metal particles from injuring your eyes.

3.2. Feed the knife onto the circle smoothly, without jerking or sharp pressure, and do not position yourself in the plane of the possible flight path of pieces of the torn circle

3.3. Constantly monitor the serviceability of the sharpening machine. When leaving the workplace, the machine must be stopped and de-energized.

3.4. Work in the presence and serviceability of fences, blocking devices that ensure labor safety and in sufficient lighting.

3.5. Do not work with the side of an abrasive wheel unless the wheel is specifically designed for the job.

3.6. Keep your work area tidy and clean.

3.7. The working surface of the circle must have a strictly circular rotation. For dressing grinding wheels, it is necessary to use diamonds or cutters. Dressing a wheel with a notch, chisel or similar tool is prohibited, as this dressing method promotes the formation of cracks.

3.8. It is forbidden to work:

  • without protective cover;
  • in mittens, gloves or with bandaged fingers.
  • without personal protective equipment;
  • with the appearance of smoke, extraneous noise;
  • persons unfamiliar with the working conditions on the abrasive machine.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. If defects in equipment (sharpening wheels) are detected that pose a danger to the lives of personnel and the integrity of the equipment, immediately suspend work,, if possible, turn off electrical equipment, and take measures to eliminate the accident.

4.2. In case of injury on a grinding machine, contact the first-aid post or call an ambulance, notify the master of the injury.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Inform the responsible person about the work performed and report any malfunctions noticed.

5.2. Put in order the workplace and the machine.

5.3. At the end of work, remove and put away overalls, wash your hands with warm water, take a shower.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Chinese electronics will be assembled in the US 15.12.2012

Chinese manufacturer Lenovo plans to start assembling desktops and laptops in America in the near future. According to industrial sources of the Digitimes resource, the production capacity of the constructed line will be small, but it will be quite enough to fulfill government orders and supplies for the corporate segment.

In line with the trend towards growth in total in-house manufacturing, Lenovo has built five factories in China. However, the company has two plants outside the country - in Mexico and India. In the near future, it is also planned to build factories for the production of computer equipment in Sao Paulo (Brazil) and North Carolina (USA). Sources also do not rule out the possibility of the Chinese company building factories in Germany and Canada. If we talk about own production, then its share in the total volume of manufactured products by Lenovo, according to sources, is expected to increase from 20% in 2012 to 50% in 2013.

According to IDC, Lenovo ranked second in the enterprise desktop market in the third quarter, with a market share of 18,4%. Market leader Hewlett-Packard (HP) has 19,3%. And in the production of laptops for the corporate segment, Lenovo is a confident leader with a market share of 22,3%.
