All articles of the project Self-made wind power plant:

In those rural areas where there is no electricity to directly power the radios, and there is no way to charge the batteries, you have to resort to powering the receiver from dry cells and batteries. Such cells and batteries are relatively expensive and usually expire after 3-4 months. they are out of order. It is much more expedient in such cases to acquire a low-power wind-electric charging installation, which, if necessary, can be made by one's own forces and means.

This book describes a homemade wind turbine UD-1,6. It can be used to set in motion an autotractor-type DC generator, which allows you to charge batteries to power the radio and illuminate the room with one or two automotive-type electric bulbs. The same self-made wind turbine can be used to serve the physical office of a rural school with electricity, as well as a small workshop where there is a need for lighting or battery charging.

Experience has shown that even during periods of the weakest winds that occur from June to September, the UD-1,6 installation can ensure the operation of one or even two receivers of the BI-234 or Rodina type for 4-5 hours. per day. In other months, UD-1,6 will not only provide the batteries with enough energy to power the same receivers for 8-10 hours. per day, but a certain amount of energy can even be spent on lighting.

The design of the wind turbine is designed so that it does not require complex equipment for its manufacture. Experience in the manufacture of such wind turbines has shown that for this purpose it is quite enough if there is a forge and a small workshop with a drilling machine on site.

Such equipment is available on every collective farm. Some difficulties usually arise in the manufacture of springs, but these difficulties can be circumvented, for example, by using springs from an old seeder or by purchasing small-section door springs in a store.

The drawings of the wind turbine UD-1,6 are given with all the dimensions of each part, and complex parts, in addition, are shown in the form of a drawing. This wind turbine is designed to work with low-speed DC generators from the ChTZ or Stalinets 60 tractor. All sizes of parts of the wind turbine provide for the possibility of using just such a generator. If it is necessary to manufacture parts of a wind turbine from a random material, then it is necessary to strive to ensure that the holes in it do not fit in highly loaded areas of the structure and therefore do not lead to breakage.

In a number of rural areas there are well-equipped MTS or MTM, equipped with electric welding machines. In this case, the manufacture of wind turbine parts is further simplified. At the same time, persons with insufficient training in plumbing and electrical work should use the advice of MTS, MTM employees and drivers.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

The timing and quality of sleep varies by gender. 05.09.2020

Scientists at the University of Pennsylvania from the USA found out how much the circadian rhythms of men and women differ from each other.

Previous research has shown that humans and animals have more than one kind of "physical" rhythm. In addition to the circadian rhythm that regulates sleep and wakefulness, humans have internal cycles that are responsible for breathing, skin renewal and heart rate, etc. Of these, the circadian rhythm is the best known. The fact is that it has a noticeable effect on our daily life, controlling when we go to bed and when we wake up. It also affects metabolism and the rate at which we get tired.

Sean Anderson and Garrett Fitzgerald were eager to learn more about the circadian rhythm, so they analyzed a lot of research. Scientists studied studies that included more than 53 people, which is how they found that age and gender affect the body clock.

The researchers noticed that women tend to be "morning people" while men are "night people." They also found that women are more active during the day, which is also true for children, but at night they are less energetic than men. Interestingly, women also sleep more than the opposite sex, and most of their sleep consists of a slow phase. For men, the afternoon nap was more typical.

Researchers believe this is due to the maternal role that women have traditionally played, as it is natural for mothers to have the same circadian rhythm as their offspring.
