35. Nasopharynx and larynx
Nasopharynx is the first part of the pharynx.
It is lined by a pseudostratified, ciliated, columnar.
Epithelium with goblet cells: under the epithelium, a gland-containing connective tissue layer rests directly on the periosteum of the bone.
The cilia beat towards the oropharynx, which is composed of a stratified, squamous, nonkeratinized epithelium.
The pharyngeal tonsil, an aggregate of nodular and diffuse lymphatic tissue, is located on the posterior wall of the nasopharynx subjacent to the epithelium. Hypertrophy of this tissue as a result of chronic inflammation results in a condition known as adenoiditis. Larynx is a passageway that connects the pharynx to the trachea and contains the voicebox. Its walls are composed of cartilage held together by fibroelastic connective tissue.
The mucous layer of the larynx forms two pairs of elastic tissue folds that extend into the lumen. The upper pair are called the vestibular folds (or false vocal cords), and the lower pair con stitute the true vocal cords. The epithelium of the ventral side of the epiglottis and of the vocal cords is composed of stratified, squamous, nonkeratinized cells. The remainder of the larynx is lined with ciliated, pseudostratified, columnar epithelium. All cilia, from the larynx to the lungs, beat upward towards the nasopharynx.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven
09.05.2024
Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>
Mini air conditioner Sony Reon Pocket 5
09.05.2024
Summer is a time for relaxation and travel, but often the heat can turn this time into an unbearable torment. Meet a new product from Sony - the Reon Pocket 5 mini-air conditioner, which promises to make summer more comfortable for its users. Sony has introduced a unique device - the Reon Pocket 5 mini-conditioner, which provides body cooling on hot days. With it, users can enjoy coolness anytime, anywhere by simply wearing it around their neck. This mini air conditioner is equipped with automatic adjustment of operating modes, as well as temperature and humidity sensors. Thanks to innovative technologies, Reon Pocket 5 adjusts its operation depending on the user's activity and environmental conditions. Users can easily adjust the temperature using a dedicated mobile app connected via Bluetooth. Additionally, specially designed T-shirts and shorts are available for convenience, to which a mini air conditioner can be attached. The device can oh ... >>
Energy from space for Starship
08.05.2024
Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>
Random news from the Archive Announcement of PCI Express 5.0
18.06.2017
The PCI-SIG group, which is responsible for developing new PCI Express standards, has identified 32 GT/s as the next step in increasing the bandwidth of the interface of the same name. A value of 32 GT/s (billion transfers per second) means twice the speed compared to 16 GT/s PCI Express 4.0. It will become relevant with the future approval of the PCI Express 5.0 standard, which companies involved in the development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, games, visual computing, storage infrastructure and devices, and networks are already interested in today.
It is expected that the final PCI Express 5.0 specification will be made public in 2019, but for now, PCI-SIG developers, together with companies that have allocated their specialists for a group, are testing an early revision of the standard - 0.3.
PCI Express 5.0 technology represents an evolution of the standard and will bring with it an increase in bandwidth up to 32GT/s, which in turn will exceed the needs of the industry," said Al Yanes, President and Chairman of the Board of PCI-SIG, Al Yanes.
If it took PCI-SIG specialists a long seven years to develop the PCI Express 4.0 standard, then the new specification will be released in two years. Significant PCI-E "feature enhancements" and ever-improving semiconductor technologies have contributed to speeding up the process. With PCI Express 5.0, high-speed network connections of 400 Gb Ethernet and InfiniBand (200 Gb/s) in full duplex mode will reach a maximum of 128 GB/s throughput. Increasing the data transfer rate, among other things, will allow developing more powerful graphic solutions and expanding the capabilities of server platforms.
"With the advent of the era of big data, high-performance systems and next-generation non-volatile memory, storage devices are becoming extremely power hungry when it comes to performance," said Amber Huffman, President of the NVM Express Consortium. "We are pleased to see that PCI-SIG continues to evolve the interface, enabling enterprise and data center NVMe SSDs to take advantage of the scalability of the PCI-E architecture for both higher throughput and lower latency."
