OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Instructions on labor protection for a machine operator of woodworking machines engaged in cutting blanks for marking and trimming curved parts. Full Document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Hazardous and harmful production factors: moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment, moving products, workpieces, materials, increased noise level at the workplace. Sources of factors: rotating circular saws, machine support, machine drive, movable carriage, feed chains. Effect of factors: possible contact of hands working with rotating circular saws, contact with a moving support, carriage, feed chains; reverse ejection of the processed material, ejection of teeth or carbide plates, negative impact of noise on the hearing organs. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton suit; cotton jacket with insulated lining and cotton trousers with insulated lining for outdoor work in winter; combined mittens; safety glasses; hearing protection. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Check the sharpness of the sharpening and the uniformity of the teeth of the saw, make sure there are no cracks, broken teeth, or bending of the saw blade. Circular saws must not be used if at least one tooth is missing; the teeth must be of equal height and correct profile. 2.2. Check the correct installation, the fastening of the saw on the shaft and the shaft in the bearings, the fastening of the disk with faceplates, the direction of rotation, and the reliability of fastening of the saw stroke limiter. The rotation of the saw should be such that the material is pressed against the stop block. 2.3. Check the table liner. The width of the slot for the saw blade should not exceed 10 mm. 2.4. Circular saws equipped with carbide blades are tested before use for the strength of their connection to the blade. 2.5. In machines with a lower saw shaft, the tops of the saw teeth should protrude above the table plane by a distance equal to the height of the cut plus at least 10 mm, and in machines with an upper saw shaft, they should be 3-5 mm below the table plane. 2.6. In machines that have a movement limiter in the initial position, the saw teeth must be at least 50 mm from the ruler. 2.7. Check the presence and malfunction of the saw blade guards, the machine drive, the fastening of the counterweight, and the saw stroke limiter. The saw guard must completely cover the saw blade in both the working and non-working position. When feeding the saw onto materials, only the working part of the saw should open. The feed chains have a continuous fence along their entire length. Areas that, according to work conditions, should not be fenced remain open. 2.8. Check the operation of the locking devices; guards for the cutting tool, machine drive, feed mechanism; aspiration system. 2.9. Check the operation of the braking devices and the fastening of the electric motor to the machine frame. 2.10. Check the operation of the hydraulics and spool switching mechanism of TsPA type machines, to do this, press the pedal and give 2-3 idle strokes to the caliper. 2.11. Make sure that local suctions are working properly. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Feed the material smoothly, without jerking. Move the saw onto the material without sudden jolts; press the pedal smoothly, without shock. 3.2. Cut parts shorter than 300 mm only using templates with clamping devices. 3.3. Make sure that boards with metal objects (nails, metal fragments, etc.) do not enter the machine. 3.4. Do not handle icy boards. 3.5. Move the boards along the table of the pedal cross-cutting machine using special hooks. 3.6. If a table slot or a thrust block slot becomes clogged, clean the slot only after the machine has completely stopped using a special hook. 3.7. Do not look under the guards of the saw blade until it stops completely if cuttings get into the gap. 3.8. Do not brake the saw blade by pressing on the workpiece. 3.9. Do not stand while working in the plane of rotation of the saw blade. 3.10. If there is a knock, vibration, change in the nature of the noise, overheating of the cutting tool, turn off the machine and inform the master. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Display a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report it to immediate management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
