Instructions for labor protection when applying metal coatings during hydrosandblast cleaning of parts Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General safety requirements 1.1. On the basis of this instruction, labor protection instructions are developed for workers employed in the processes of applying metal coatings during hydrosandblasting of parts (hereinafter referred to as workers engaged in hydrosandblasting of parts). 1.2. Workers at least 18 years of age who have been trained, instructed and tested on labor protection, who have mastered safe methods and techniques for performing work, methods and techniques for the correct handling of mechanisms, devices, tools and loads are allowed to perform hydrosandblast cleaning of parts. 1.3. To work on hoisting machines controlled from the floor, to hang the load on the hook of such machines, workers are allowed at least 18 years old, trained in a special program, certified by the examination committee of the organization and having a certificate for the right to use hoisting machines and hooking loads. 1.4. When performing work, it is necessary to comply with the accepted technology of hydrosandblast cleaning of parts. It is not allowed to apply methods leading to violation of labor safety requirements. 1.5. In case of any questions related to its safe performance in the process of work, you must contact your immediate or higher manager. 1.6. Workers engaged in hydrosandblast cleaning of parts are required to comply with the internal labor regulations of the organization. 1.7. During hydrosandblast cleaning of parts, the worker may be exposed to dangerous and harmful production factors:
1.8. Workers engaged in hydrosandblast cleaning of parts must be provided with personal protective equipment. 1.9. The room in which hydrosandblast cleaning of parts is carried out must be isolated from other production areas and equipped with a supply and exhaust ventilation system with air purification and collection of abrasive materials. 1.10. Hydro-sandblasting chambers must be waterproof and equipped with special devices for moving parts. Control of such devices should be carried out from the outside of the camera. Observation of the cleaning process in the chamber should be carried out through special windows with glasses of the required strength. 1.11. The design of the cleaning chamber should exclude the presence of an employee in the chamber itself, for which it must be equipped with tilting tables and manipulators. 1.12. Installations for hydrosandblasting must be equipped with:
1.13. Hand holes in a closed chamber should not have open spaces through which noise can enter the room. It is necessary that the elastic gloves and sleeves in the handholes be made as one piece. 1.14. The hydraulic monitor must be fixed on a ball pin or securely suspended on a special bracket. 1.15. The order of laying parts should be established by the technological documentation. 1.16. Details for hydrosandblasting must be submitted in a special container. 1.17. When sandblasting, the content of sand in water (by weight) should not exceed 50%. 1.18. The temperature of the pulp should be 20° - 30°C regardless of the season. 1.19. The temperature of the parts entering the hydro-sandblasting machine must not exceed 45°C. 1.20. In the event of an accident, a worker engaged in hydro-sand blasting of parts must stop work, notify his immediate or superior supervisor and seek medical attention. 1.21. An employee engaged in hydrosandblast cleaning of parts must observe the rules of personal hygiene: before eating and after finishing work, wash their hands with warm water and soap. Food must be taken in rooms specially equipped for this purpose. 1.22. Workers engaged in hydrosandblast cleaning of parts must be able to provide first aid to the victim. 1.23. Workers engaged in hydrosandblast cleaning of parts who do not comply with the requirements of this instruction are held liable in accordance with applicable law. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Inspect the workplace, put it in order, clear the aisles and do not clutter them up. 2.2. Inspect, tidy up and put on personal protective equipment. 2.3. Check the serviceability of the valves of the steam pipelines, air pipelines, water supply. 2.4. Check the tightness of the fastening and connection of the hoses. 2.5. Make sure that the floor is dry and the foot grate located near the hydrochamber is stable and in good working order. 2.6. Turn on and check ventilation. Hydro-sandblast cleaning of parts should be carried out only with active ventilation. Turn on ventilation at least 5 minutes before starting work. 2.7. Check availability and serviceability:
2.8. Check the illumination of the workplace. The voltage for local lighting should not exceed 50 V. 2.9. When working with lifting mechanisms, check their serviceability and comply with the requirements of the relevant labor protection instructions. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Keep the workplace clean and free from clutter. 3.2. It is forbidden to work with broken or cracked glass on the viewing window. 3.3. Sand sifting should be carried out with the ventilation turned on and only inside the hydrosandblaster. 3.4. Loading, stacking and removal of parts should be carried out with the supply of abrasive to the working space of the chambers turned off. 3.5. Check the presence and condition of parts loaded into the drum, their configuration. Do not overload the drum. 3.6. It is forbidden to enter the workspace of the hydrosandblaster during cleaning. 3.7. It is necessary to control the nozzle when cleaning parts outside the working space of the chamber. 3.8. When blasting, stand on a wooden foot grate. 3.9. While cleaning parts, direct the nozzle of the ejection gun with one hand and move the parts with the other hand. 3.10. It is necessary to wash the parts in the bath only with rubber gloves. 3.11. Transport the cleaned parts using a lifting mechanism to a designated area for drying. 3.12. Lay the parts in such a way that they are in a stable position. 3.13. Check the serviceability of the system of interlocks, alarms, limit switches, chains, hooks and devices for hanging parts and the reliability of their fastening. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. If a malfunctioning operation of the hydrosandblasting unit is detected, disconnect it from the power supply network and the high pressure supply network and notify your immediate or superior manager about this. 4.2. In case of injury, poisoning and sudden illness, the victim should be provided with first (pre-medical) aid and, if necessary, his delivery to a healthcare facility should be organized. 4.3. In case of electric shock, take measures to release the victim from the action of the current as soon as possible. 4.4. When rotating parts of machines, slings, cargo hooks and other equipment capture parts of the body or clothing, give a signal to stop work and, if possible, take measures to stop the machine (equipment). You should not try to free yourself from the grip if it is possible to attract others. 4.5. In the event of a fire:
5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off the installation. 5.2. Disconnect electrical equipment from the network. 5.3. Close the valves of the steam pipeline, air pipeline and water pipeline. 5.4. Before handing over the shift, check the serviceability of the installation for hydrosandblasting:
Record the results of the check in the shift acceptance and delivery log, inform the foreman about malfunctions. 5.5. Tidy up the workplace, put the tools and fixtures in the tool box. 5.6. Take off overalls and other personal protective equipment and hang them in a specially designed place. 5.7. Wash hands and face with warm soapy water and shower if possible.
