Focus Description:

If you add up all the digits of a certain number, then all the digits of the sum just found, and so on far enough, you get one - the only digit, which is called the digital root of the original number. The fastest way to obtain a digital root is by using the so-called "rejection of nines" process. Suppose, for example, that we want to find the digital root of the number 87345691. First, add the numbers 8 and 7, it will be 15; then we immediately add 5 and 1, we get 6. The same result will be obtained if we subtract or "exclude" nine from 15.

Now we add 6 to the next digit, that is, to the three, we get 9. Nine plus 4 gives 13 - a number that, after eliminating the nine, again reduces to the number 4. We do the same until we reach the last digit. The number 7 obtained in this way will be the digital root of the given number 87345691.

A large number of number tricks are based on an operation that results in a seemingly random number, although in reality it has a nine as its digital root. If such an operation was performed, you can invite the viewer to circle any number of the answer (with the exception of the bullet), and name the remaining numbers in any order. After that, the demonstrator may announce the marked figure. To do this, he just needs to add up the numbers called by the viewer, subtracting nines along the way; thus, when declaring the last digit, he will already know the digital root of the totality of the numbers he has written down.

If this root turns out to be nine, then the same figure was marked with a circle. In other cases, to get the marked figure, you need to subtract the found digital root from nine. Here are some of the many operations that result in numbers whose digital root is 9.

1. Write a number (it can be arbitrarily large) and rearrange its digits in any order; Subtract the smaller of these numbers from the larger.

2. Write a number, add up all its digits and subtract the resulting amount from the original number.

3. Write some number. Find the sum of its digits, multiply it by 9 and add the result to the original number.

4. Write a number, multiply it by 9 or a multiple of nine. (All numbers that are multiples of nine have nine as their digital root, and vice versa, all numbers that have nine as their digital root are multiples of nine.)

5. Write some number, add the two numbers obtained from it by any permutation of the Numbers, and square the result.

Focus secret:

If you want to further obscure the method of obtaining numbers whose digital root is 9, you can enter arbitrary numbers and operations before the action essential in this method. For example, you can ask the viewer to write down the amount of change in his pocket, multiply this number by the number of people in the room, add the most significant year in his life to the result, etc., and finally multiply the result by 9. It is clear that only the last action is relevant to the case.

As soon as a number is obtained whose digital root is 9, you can invite the viewer to circle some digit of the result and show focus, as described above.

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

The threat of space debris to the Earth's magnetic field 01.05.2024

More and more often we hear about an increase in the amount of space debris surrounding our planet. However, it is not only active satellites and spacecraft that contribute to this problem, but also debris from old missions. The growing number of satellites launched by companies like SpaceX creates not only opportunities for the development of the Internet, but also serious threats to space security. Experts are now turning their attention to the potential implications for the Earth's magnetic field. Dr. Jonathan McDowell of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics emphasizes that companies are rapidly deploying satellite constellations, and the number of satellites could grow to 100 in the next decade. The rapid development of these cosmic armadas of satellites can lead to contamination of the Earth's plasma environment with dangerous debris and a threat to the stability of the magnetosphere. Metal debris from used rockets can disrupt the ionosphere and magnetosphere. Both of these systems play a key role in protecting the atmosphere and maintaining ... >>

Solidification of bulk substances 30.04.2024

There are quite a few mysteries in the world of science, and one of them is the strange behavior of bulk materials. They may behave like a solid but suddenly turn into a flowing liquid. This phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers, and we may finally be getting closer to solving this mystery. Imagine sand in an hourglass. It usually flows freely, but in some cases its particles begin to get stuck, turning from a liquid to a solid. This transition has important implications for many areas, from drug production to construction. Researchers from the USA have attempted to describe this phenomenon and come closer to understanding it. In the study, the scientists conducted simulations in the laboratory using data from bags of polystyrene beads. They found that the vibrations within these sets had specific frequencies, meaning that only certain types of vibrations could travel through the material. Received ... >>

Ultrabook Toshiba dynabook V632 has 13 hours battery life 18.03.2013

Toshiba has announced the imminent start of sales in the home market of the new ultrabook dynabook V632. The novelty will go on store shelves starting March 20 and will cost about $1460. Perhaps the most important feature of the novelty is a long battery life: according to official data, the device can work without being connected to the mains for 13 hours. True, at the same time, the characteristics of the battery are not reported, it is only known that the battery is of the lithium-polymer type.

The equipment of the dynabook V632 is typical for the latest generation of ultrabooks: it is based on a motherboard based on the Intel HM76 Express chipset, and the processor uses a dual-core Intel Core i5-3337U, operating at a frequency of 1,8-2,7 GHz and supporting Hyper-threading technology. threading. The standard amount of DDR3-1600 MHz RAM is 8 GB. For data storage, a 128 GB solid-state drive is used, and the ultrabook display is characterized by a diagonal of 13,3 inches and a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

In addition to the above components, the configuration of the device includes Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n and Bluetooth 4.0 communication modules, a 920 thousand-pixel webcam, a Harman Kardon speaker system, an SD card reader, three USB 3.0 ports and HDMI video output.

According to the manufacturer, the body of the dynabook V632 is made of magnesium alloy and is additionally reinforced, and the laptop keyboard is backlit.
