Try to bring a magnet to a magnetized needle with one pole or the other. An amazing thing: the needle is now attracted to one pole only by the eye, and to the other - only by the tip.

The poles, it turns out, are not the same! There is some difference between them. She will help you make a funny toy: a picky goose. Sculpt it from a lump of paraffin or stearin from a candle. You can also take plasticine, but then the goose will not be white. And most importantly, it will increase in weight and will act worse. Stick the goose to a plank or to a piece of pine bark so that it swims. Hide the magnetized needle into the body of the goose so that the eye peeks out of the beak, and the tip is out of the tail. This means that the length of the goose should be equal to the length of the needle, that is, about 4 cm. You can make it smaller if you take a steel feather instead of a needle. Of course, also magnetized. You now know how it's done.

Let the goose swim in a bowl of water and try holding a magnet to its beak. It is clear that the beak will be attracted to one pole of the magnet. Tie a piece of bread to this pole. And tie a cotton wool to another and smear it with mustard. A goose will never reach for mustard with its beak. He will stubbornly turn away from her.

With some sleight of hand, you can train your goose to recognize numbers. To do this, insert the bowl into a paper ring, on which write numbers in a circle. From 1 to 10 will be quite enough even for the wisest of geese. In your right hand, hide a small magnet or a piece of a magnetized knitting needle. Let only one pole protrude slightly, the one to which the beak is attracted.

Having asked the goose to show, say, a four, move your hand over it, as if encouraging, and direct it where it should be.
