When going on a trip by car, many of you are not averse to taking a radio or tape recorder with you, operating from 9 volts. It is convenient to feed them, of course, from the on-board network of the car. But its voltage, firstly, is 12,6V and, moreover, fluctuates within significant limits. This is where the proposed voltage stabilizer for batteries comes in handy.

Voltage stabilizer for car battery

The output voltage of the stabilizer is 9V, the maximum load current is 300 mA. When the load current changes from 20 to 300 mA, the output voltage changes only by 0,17v.

The stabilizer is protected against overload and short circuit at the output - when the current exceeds the maximum (300mA), the stabilizer will turn off.

The stabilizer consists of a regulating transistor VT1 and a comparison stage assembled on a transistor VT2, a zener diode VD1 and resistors R2-R5. Trimmer R4 sets the output voltage. Resistor R1 ensures the launch of the stabilizer (the appearance of an output voltage) when it is connected to a power source or after the output overload has been eliminated. The maximum load current corresponding to the protection threshold depends on the resistor R2. It increases as resistance decreases and vice versa. The minimum resistance is limited by the maximum allowable stabilization current of the zener diode.

Instead of KT814B, there can be any other transistor from the KT814, KT816 series, and instead of KT315G, any of the KT315 series.

The control transistor is mounted on a 15 x 20 mm duralumin radiator and attached to the board with it. As an XP1 connector - an adapter for a cigarette lighter socket (sold in car dealerships).

Establishing the stabilizer comes down to setting the output voltage of 9,1 ... 9,3V without load with a trimming resistor and selecting the resistor R1 - it must be of such resistance that the stabilizer can be reliably started without load, both when it is connected to the vehicle’s on-board network, and after elimination of a short circuit at the output. When connecting the resistor R1, the output voltage can increase by no more than 0,1 V. If you need to operate this device at a load current of up to 500 mA (naturally, you will have to select R2 for this option), the radiator for VT1 must be used larger.

The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Energy from space for Starship 08.05.2024

Producing solar energy in space is becoming more feasible with the advent of new technologies and the development of space programs. The head of the startup Virtus Solis shared his vision of using SpaceX's Starship to create orbital power plants capable of powering the Earth. Startup Virtus Solis has unveiled an ambitious project to create orbital power plants using SpaceX's Starship. This idea could significantly change the field of solar energy production, making it more accessible and cheaper. The core of the startup's plan is to reduce the cost of launching satellites into space using Starship. This technological breakthrough is expected to make solar energy production in space more competitive with traditional energy sources. Virtual Solis plans to build large photovoltaic panels in orbit, using Starship to deliver the necessary equipment. However, one of the key challenges ... >>

The physical standard of the kilogram will be replaced by the quantum formula 14.11.2018

The world is no longer using the kilogram standard, which has been kept at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures in Sevres, France since 1889. This is a small cylinder made of an alloy of platinum and iridium. The reason is that its mass can change.

"This is not very good, given the accuracy in measurements we need at the moment," said Thomas Grenon, head of France's National Laboratory for Metrology and Testing.

The kilogram remained the last measure that depended on the physical object. On November 16 in Versailles at the 26th General Conference of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures, everything will change. For a kilogram, the formula will be adopted. This will be a universal formula for determining the kilogram based on the laws of quantum physics.

Now a kilogram will be determined not by the weight of the standard, but by the amount of electrical energy needed to move an object weighing a kilogram. And the energy, in turn, is calculated on the basis of Planck's constant.

The General Conference of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures at the Paris Palace of Versailles will also discuss the definition of other major international units of measurement - the ampere (A) unit of electric current, the kelvin (K) unit of thermodynamic temperature, and the mole - a unit of measurement of the amount of substance.

The concept of gram and kilogram was introduced into science in 1795. Water was taken as the basis: it was believed that one kilogram is equal to the weight of a liter of water. For the mass standard, a platinum cylinder was first made, and then a platinum-iridium cylinder.

The standard was kept under reliable protection. Under two glass caps, from which the air was pumped out. Moreover, only three people in the whole world had access to the room where the standard stood. Everyone had their own key. But it was possible to open the door and enter the room with the standard only by turning three keys at the same time. But that didn't help either. By the end of the XNUMXth century, scientists discovered that the standard was gradually losing mass.
