7.4.32. In fire hazardous areas, luminaires with a degree of protection not less than those indicated in Table 7.4.3 should be used. XNUMX.

Table 7.4.3. Minimum admissible degrees of protection of luminaires depending on the class of the fire hazardous zone*

Light sources installed in luminaires The degree of protection of luminaires for the fire hazardous zone of the class
P-I P-II P-IIa, as well as P-II in the presence of local lower suction and general ventilation P-III
Incandescent lamps IP53 IP53 2'3 2'3
DRL lamps IP53 IP53 IP23 IP23
Fluorescent lamps 5'3 5'3 IP23 IP23

* It is allowed to change the degree of protection of the shell against water penetration (2nd digit of the designation) depending on the conditions of the environment in which the luminaires are installed.

7.4.33. The design of luminaires with DRL lamps should prevent the lamps from falling out of them. Luminaires with incandescent lamps must have a solid silicate glass to protect the lamp. They should not have reflectors and diffusers made of combustible materials. In fire hazardous areas of any class of storage facilities, luminaires with fluorescent lamps should not have reflectors and diffusers made of combustible materials.

7.4.34. Wiring inside luminaires with incandescent lamps and DRL to the point of connection of external conductors must be carried out with heat-resistant wires.

7.4.35. Portable lamps in fire hazardous areas of any class must have a degree of protection of at least IP54; the glass dome of the luminaire must be protected by a metal mesh.

A New Way to Control and Manipulate Optical Signals 05.05.2024

The modern world of science and technology is developing rapidly, and every day new methods and technologies appear that open up new prospects for us in various fields. One such innovation is the development by German scientists of a new way to control optical signals, which could lead to significant progress in the field of photonics. Recent research has allowed German scientists to create a tunable waveplate inside a fused silica waveguide. This method, based on the use of a liquid crystal layer, allows one to effectively change the polarization of light passing through a waveguide. This technological breakthrough opens up new prospects for the development of compact and efficient photonic devices capable of processing large volumes of data. The electro-optical control of polarization provided by the new method could provide the basis for a new class of integrated photonic devices. This opens up great opportunities for ... >>

Primium Seneca keyboard 05.05.2024

Keyboards are an integral part of our daily computer work. However, one of the main problems that users face is noise, especially in the case of premium models. But with the new Seneca keyboard from Norbauer & Co, that may change. Seneca is not just a keyboard, it is the result of five years of development work to create the ideal device. Every aspect of this keyboard, from acoustic properties to mechanical characteristics, has been carefully considered and balanced. One of the key features of Seneca is its silent stabilizers, which solve the noise problem common to many keyboards. In addition, the keyboard supports various key widths, making it convenient for any user. Although Seneca is not yet available for purchase, it is scheduled for release in late summer. Norbauer & Co's Seneca represents new standards in keyboard design. Her ... >>

The world's tallest astronomical observatory opened 04.05.2024

Exploring space and its mysteries is a task that attracts the attention of astronomers from all over the world. In the fresh air of the high mountains, far from city light pollution, the stars and planets reveal their secrets with greater clarity. A new page is opening in the history of astronomy with the opening of the world's highest astronomical observatory - the Atacama Observatory of the University of Tokyo. The Atacama Observatory, located at an altitude of 5640 meters above sea level, opens up new opportunities for astronomers in the study of space. This site has become the highest location for a ground-based telescope, providing researchers with a unique tool for studying infrared waves in the Universe. Although the high altitude location provides clearer skies and less interference from the atmosphere, building an observatory on a high mountain poses enormous difficulties and challenges. However, despite the difficulties, the new observatory opens up broad research prospects for astronomers. ... >>

WD Purple 6TB Hard Drives 03.11.2014

WD, a division of Western Digital, has announced the addition of a top-of-the-line 6TB model to its Purple hard drive lineup.

WD Purple drives are designed for video surveillance systems. The hard drives are compatible with chassis and chipsets from leading manufacturers and are suitable for use in arrays of up to 32 HD cameras.

Among the features of the WD Purple series devices are named AllFrame and IntelliSeek technologies. The AllFrame system, when working with ATA protocol streaming data, reduces the number of errors that cause image decay and recording interruptions, and increases the number of supported drives. IntelliSeek determines the optimal search speed depending on the current load, reduces power consumption, noise and vibration of the drive, which is extremely important for surveillance systems that are constantly on and operating at high temperatures.

The drives are made in a 3,5-inch form factor; The Serial ATA 3.0 interface with a bandwidth of up to 6 Gb/s is used to connect to a computer.

WD Purple 6TB hard drives will be available late November 2014 for a suggested retail price of $400. The entire line of 1TB-6TB video surveillance drives is backed by a XNUMX-year limited warranty.
