It grows on the banks of rivers, lakes, water meadows and rocky slopes of mountains up to an altitude of 2000 m above sea level. It is successfully cultivated in gardens as an ornamental shrub.

Medicinal raw materials are leaves and flowers. Harvest the tops of plants with inflorescences. The raw materials are loosely placed in a basket or a bag of matting, dried in the sun and dried in a dryer or oven at a temperature of 60-70 ° C. Store in bags or other closed containers for 1 year.

The aerial part of the plant contains vitamins C and P, carotene, phenol carboxylic acids (caffeic, synapic, ferulic, ellagic, coumaric), catechins, flavonoids and triterpenoids (ursolic acid).

Kuril tea preparations have antimicrobial, expectorant, choleretic, hemostatic and astringent effects.

Kuril tea (Potentilla, Daziphora)

In Tibetan medicine, the plant is used for inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and pulmonary tuberculosis. An infusion of leaves and flowers is used for diarrhea of various origins, as well as lobar pneumonia, as an expectorant and a means of supporting cardiac activity.

A decoction of leaves and flowers is prescribed for inflammatory diseases of the liver as a choleretic agent and for fever, as a diaphoretic. In Mongolia, the infusion is used for bloody diarrhea, as a hemostatic and appetite-improving agent, as well as for various neuropsychiatric diseases and blood diseases.

To prepare the infusion of leaves 2 tbsp. l. raw materials are poured into 0,5 liters of hot water, boiled in a closed enameled bowl over low heat for 5-7 minutes, cooled for 30 minutes and filtered through two or three layers of gauze. Take 1/2 cup 3-4 times a day before meals.

When using a decoction of 1 tbsp. l. leaves are poured with 1 cup of hot water, boiled in a closed enamel bowl in a water bath for 30 minutes, filtered hot and brought to the original volume. Take 2 tbsp. l. 3 times a day before meals. The course of treatment is 10-15 days

Kuril tea (Potentilla, Daziphora), Dasiphora. Tips for growing, harvesting and storing

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Kuril tea, or cinquefoil, or dasiphora (Dasiphora fruticosa) is a shrub belonging to the rose family. It grows in the north of Eurasia and North America. Kuril tea is grown as an ornamental plant due to its bright colors and easy care.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing Kuril tea:

Cultivation:

  • Choose a sunny location with good drainage soil for growing Kuril tea. This shrub can survive in dry climates but needs moderate moisture.
  • You can grow Kuril tea from seeds or cuttings. If you are using cuttings, you should harvest them in the spring before the plant starts flowering. When planting cuttings, make sure they are well rooted.
  • You can plant Kuril tea at any time of the year, except for winter, but it is preferable to do this in spring or autumn.
  • You can grow Kuril tea as a single plant or in groups. If you plant them in groups, the distance between plants should be at least 30 cm.
  • It is necessary to fertilize Kuril tea in early spring every year, using compost or other organic fertilizers.
  • Kuril tea does not need special care, except for regular watering during periods of drought.
  • Remove faded flowers to encourage new flower growth.
  • Trim the shrub periodically to keep its shape. It is best to prune it in late winter or early spring, before growth begins.
  • If winters are very cold in your area, it is best to cover the plant with a layer of mulch or dry foliage to protect it from frost.

Workpiece:

  • Collect Kuril tea flowers during their maximum flowering period. Flowers are best picked in dry weather, in the morning or evening, when they are still fresh.
  • Dry the flowers in the shade on paper or linen towels until completely dry. Flowers must be completely dry before you use them.

Storage:

  • Store dried flowers in glass jars or other airtight containers in a cool, dry place.
  • You can use dried Kuril tea flowers for making tea, tinctures, or for cosmetic purposes.

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Silicon nanotube anodes triple the capacity of lithium-ion batteries 07.06.2014

Scientists at the University of California have developed an improved technology for manufacturing lithium-ion batteries. It allows you to triple the battery capacity.

By creating anodes for lithium-ion batteries from silicon dioxide, the developers found a three-fold increase in capacity compared to existing analogues that use carbon.

Silicon dioxide has been used previously as an anode material in lithium-ion batteries. However, the possibilities of obtaining specific unified nanostructures from this material with the required high energy density and long life cycle were limited. Developers were originally focused on using SiO2 as it is an extremely common and environmentally friendly compound.

According to Zachary Favors, part of the research team, they have taken a material used in medical devices, children's toys and even fast food, and modified it for use in next-generation batteries.

Significant stability of silicon nanotubes in the battery makes it possible to increase the service life. During the experiments, 100 full charge/discharge cycles of batteries with SiO2 nanotube anodes were carried out without any loss of energy capacity. Scientists are confident that new batteries will be able to be recharged hundreds of times without losing capacity.

The research of scientists is important for industry, incl. for various electronics and electric vehicles.
