OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
Occupational safety instructions for sawing machine operators and operators on automatic and semi-automatic lines in woodworking, engaged in cutting slabs and sheet materials. Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General requirements for labor protection 1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production". 1.2. Dangerous and harmful production factors: moving machines and mechanisms, moving parts of production equipment; moving products, workpieces, materials, increased dust and gas pollution in the air of the working area, increased noise level in the workplace. Sources of factors: rotating circular saws, machine drive, feed mechanisms for slab materials, workpieces. Effect of factors: possible contact of the hands of a worker with rotating circular saws, hands getting into the feed mechanism, contact with moving and rotating parts of the machine; return flight of processed material, scraps; protrusion of teeth or carbide plates, negative effects of wood dust and fumes of harmful substances on the respiratory system, noise on the hearing system. 1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton suit; combined mittens; safety glasses; Personal hearing protection equipment. 2. Safety requirements before starting work 2.1. Inspect the fastening of the saw on the shaft, eliminate runout, and adjust the disc. In machines with a lower saw shaft, the tops of the saw teeth should protrude above the table plane by a distance equal to the height of the cut plus at least 10 mm, and in machines with an upper saw shaft they should be 3-5 mm below the table plane. 2.2. Check the sharpness of the sharpening, the uniform spacing of the teeth, the absence of cracks or broken teeth. 3. Safety requirements during work 3.1. Turn on the line in the order specified in the technical operating instructions. 3.2. When turning on the pneumatic clamps (cutting plates on a machine with a fixed table), do not adjust the material. 3.3. While the carriage is moving along the guides, make sure that the saw operator’s hands do not get under the running rollers. 3.4. Cutting sheet materials to produce on the guide line. 3.5. Rearrangement of cams on the program line (in lines) is carried out according to caliber and only when the line is completely stopped. 3.6. Inspection, cleaning, wiping, checking the accuracy of processing parts, securing guards, removing scraps and sawdust from the table only when the machine is completely stopped. 3.7. If knocking, vibration occurs, changes in the nature of the noise, or overheating of the cutting tool, turn off the machine and report the malfunction to the foreman. 3.8. Do not cut several workpieces at the same time without a special device that ensures they are pressed against the guide ruler and the table. 3.9. Do not slow down the saw by pressing any object on the surface of the blade or saw teeth. 3.10. Do not be in the plane of the operating saw in the area of possible ejection of the processed material. 3.11. It is not allowed to retract anti-blowout devices (claw guards, sectors, etc.). 3.12. It is not allowed to work without guide and riving knives. 4. Safety requirements in emergency situations 4.1. Turn off equipment. 4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management. 4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher. 4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning. 4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.). Providing assistance should begin with the most significant thing that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; for open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; for burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If a spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in a lying position on a rigid base. 4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility. 5. Safety requirements at the end of work 5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt, dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material. 5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners. It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air. 5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place. 5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap. 5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.
