When it is required to measure a constant voltage without great accuracy, all kinds of light and sound indicators are used. The so-called "probe-screwdrivers" are popular for monitoring the constant voltage in a car (12 ... 24 V) with indicators based on LEDs.

I offer my probe circuit on non-deficient operational amplifiers K553UD2 (with field-effect transistors at the input and, accordingly, with a large input resistance). The scope of the device is automotive equipment, power supplies, a home laboratory of a radio amateur, etc., where it is necessary to control a constant voltage in the range of 5 ... 20 V.

Constant voltage indicator

The circuit implements two similar voltage comparison nodes. The reference level is the voltage across the zener diode VD1. The device is powered by a controlled voltage. Voltage levels are indicated by two LEDs (preferably different colors). But the number of control levels can be easily expanded by connecting several similar op amps in the same way. Instead of LEDs HL1 and HL2, capsules with built-in generators can be used as sound indicators.

If none of the LEDs HL1, HL2 is lit, then the controlled voltage is below 10 V. When only HL1 is lit, the voltage is within 12 ... 13 V, when only HL2 is lit, the voltage is in the range of 13.5 ... 15 8. If both LEDs light up or flicker, controlled voltage is more than 16,5 V.

All fixed resistors - type MPT-0,25, MF-25, tuning - multi-turn, SP5-1VB, SP5-2, SPZ-19 or similar with a linear characteristic of resistance change. Capacitors - KM6B. Zener diode VD1 is replaced by KS133A, KS133B. LEDs can be replaced with L-239EGW, KIPD18V-M or similar.

Establishing the node consists in setting the threshold for turning on each LED individually with trimming resistors R4 and R7. As a power source (and controlled voltage) during the adjustment, an adjustable stabilized source with a voltage of 5 ... 20 V is used.

Before the first turn on, the trimmer resistors sliders are brought to the Middle position. A voltage of 12 V is set on the power source. A sufficiently accurate voltmeter (multimeter) is connected in the DC voltage measurement mode. By adjusting the resistance R4, the LED HL1 is lit. The voltage is increased to 13,5 ... 14 V, HL7 is lit with a tuned resistor R2. Reduce the voltage to 10 V and make sure that the LEDs do not burn.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Huawei Pig Farm 24.02.2021

The president of Huawei's machine vision division, announced a new development of the company, which concerns animal husbandry. We are talking about an intelligent software and hardware platform for breeding pigs.

The system consists of many components: the so-called "dashboard" for monitoring, software for analyzing the collected data, and a digital control panel. The platform widely uses artificial intelligence - for object and image recognition, learning, forecasting and decision making. Full automation of the process provides for the presence of robots, which, if necessary, can be connected remotely.

Back in October last year, Huawei announced its AI-based 5G program for pig farms at a forum in China on the application of advanced technologies in animal husbandry, and now the system seems to be ready for operation.
