Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

1.1. General safety requirements are set out in the Instruction "General safety requirements for professions and types of work in furniture production".

1.2. Hazardous production factors: moving machines and mechanisms; moving parts of production equipment, moving products, blanks, materials.

The source of the factors: the moving blade of the band saw, the rotating parts of the machine, the drive of the machine.

Effect of factors: possible contact of the hands of a moving bandsaw working with a blade, with rotating pulleys, a belt drive; the possibility of breaking the blade and the departure of the saw blade.

1.3. Personal protective equipment: cotton suit; goggles.

2. Safety requirements before starting work

2.1. Choose a saw blade according to the nature of the work to be done. Check the tension of the saw with the handwheel, as well as the guide rollers. The ends of the saw blade must be firmly soldered, and the soldering points must be tightly ground. The teeth at the soldering site are sharpened in the same way as others, but not bred. Bevel when soldering (chamfer) make more than the thickness of the canvas. The soldering points of the saw blade must not have thickenings. Make sure that there are no cracks on the saw blade, broken teeth, even spacing of the saw teeth. Band saws are not lowered into operation if at least one tooth is missing. The teeth must be sharpened, have the same profile, height and set.

The saw blade must be uniform in thickness and width, well sanded, have a smooth and even butt.

2.2. Check the presence and serviceability of the saw band guard, saw band guide, elastic linings of saw pulleys, templates, clamps and special fixtures for clamping when processing curved parts, saw holding mechanisms to catch the band.

2.3. Check the serviceability of the blocking and braking devices.

2.4. Make sure that local suctions are working properly.

3. Safety requirements during work

3.1. Install the fences so that the gap between the blanks and the fence does not exceed 5-10 mm. Do not adjust the saw blade guard while driving.

3.2. Move the material onto the saw smoothly, without jerks.

3.3. Ensure that workpieces with nails and other metal objects do not fall into the machine.

3.4. Figured sawing of workpieces is carried out in special templates equipped with clamping devices. Make sure that your hands are not in the danger zone. When ripping and crosscutting, use a securely hooked guide fence to guide the material feed. The use of clamps to hook the ruler is not permitted.

3.5. Do not saw through glued panels, parts, etc. unless the glue has dried.

3.6. Lay the warped part with the concave side down. Do not allow the saw blade to be clamped at sharp turns in the cutting line. If the saw blade is clamped, pull the piece back and then run it through the kerf again. With very sharp turns, cut in parts along the line from the edge or end.

3:7. In order to avoid breakage of the band, check the serviceability of the tensioner, guide rollers and blocks, uniform feed of the material, select the band width in accordance with the sawing curvature radius.

3.8: Do not lie in the plane of rotation of the saw blade.

3.9. Do not cut workpieces in gloves.

3.10. If there is a knock, vibration, change in the nature of the noise, overheating of the cutting tool, turn off the machine and inform the master.

4. Safety requirements in emergency situations

4.1. Turn off equipment.

4.2. Post a table about the malfunction of the machine or equipment and report this to the direct management.

4.3. In the event of a fire or extinguishing a flame, use a nearby fire extinguisher.

4.4. The victim or bystander must notify the appropriate work manager of each accident or poisoning.

4.5. The worker must be able to provide first aid. Such assistance is provided immediately, directly at the scene and in the following sequence: first you need to eliminate the energy source of injury (switch off the engine, stop the mechanism, remove the victim from under the car, a heavy object, etc.).

Assistance should begin with the most significant that threatens life or health (in case of severe bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and then bandage the wound; if a closed fracture is suspected, apply a splint; with open fractures, first bandage the wound and then apply a splint; in case of burns, apply a dry bandage ; in case of frostbite, gently rub the affected area using soft or fluffy tissues). If spinal injury is suspected, transport the victim only in the supine position on a rigid base.

4.6. After providing first aid, the victim should be sent to the nearest medical facility.

5. Safety requirements at the end of work

5.1. Turn off equipment. Wait for it to come to a complete stop. Tidy up the workplace: remove tools, fixtures; clean the machine from dirt and dust; wipe and lubricate the rubbing parts of the machine; neatly fold the finished parts and the remaining material.

5.2. Cleaning of wood waste (sawdust, shavings, dust) from the surface of the equipment, as well as from overalls, is carried out with a brush, sweep or using vacuum cleaners.

It is unacceptable to blow the machine and clothes with compressed air.

5.3. Rags used during work and when cleaning, put the rags in a special metal box with a closing lid and take it outside the workshop to a specially designated place.

5.4. Wash hands with warm water and soap.

5.5. Report all noticed shortcomings in the operation of the equipment to the shift worker or foreman.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food.
