Safe Operation

1. General requirements for labor protection

Persons over 18 years of age, specially trained in electric arc welding are allowed to work on electric arc welding. Persons over 17 years of age, specially trained in electric arc welding, who have undergone medical selection and on-the-job instruction are allowed.

The welder must have a certificate and be certified annually for this type of welding.

Permanent and strictly fixed places and areas must be allocated for electric arc welding work.

To protect surrounding workers from the effects of electric arc rays, workplaces of electric welders located in open areas must be fenced with portable screens, shields or screens.

2. Safety requirement before work

Wear the required working clothing and safety shoes. Do not tuck your jacket into your trousers, as drops of metal may get caught in the trouser waistband. Close the jacket pockets with flaps. Lace your shoes tightly. Wear boots untucked so as to cover the boots

Check the shield or helmet for any cracks or holes. If damaged, replace it.

Check the serviceability of grounded casings, housings, apparatus, electrical grounding of the part being welded, and the serviceability of wire insulation.

2. Safety requirement during operation

Turn on ventilation. Do not carry out welding work at a distance of more than 5 m from flammable and flammable substances. Make sure that flexible wires and cables do not come into contact with wet areas and have proper insulation.

When initiating an arc, it is necessary to warn others with the words: “BE AWARE OF YOUR EYES.” When preparing material for welding, cutting and cleaning from rust, it is necessary to wear gloves and safety glasses with ordinary clear glasses.

Do not weld equipment and pipelines under pressure. Do not carry out electric welding work outdoors during thunderstorms and rain.

When welding inside closed tanks and other areas, ensure reliable ventilation of workplaces. In this case, at least 2 people must take part in the work, and one of them must observe the welder.

Inside closed tanks and other sheet metal structures, perform welding work only on dielectric mats in dielectric galoshes.

Carry out welding work at height from scaffolding, lifts, cradles after checking these devices by the work supervisor, as well as taking measures against the fire of the decking, the fall of molten metal on workers or passers-by.

When welding, the following protective equipment is used:

  • 75…200 A;
  • 200…400 A;
  • over 400 A.

3. Safety requirement after work

After graduation, you must:

  • turn off the power to the welding machine;
  • turn off ventilation;
  • clean the workplace and hand it over to the master;
  • hand over the overalls;
  • take a shower.

4. Safety requirement in emergency situations

Emergency situations include power outages, breaks and short circuits of electrical communications.

If voltage appears on the insulated wires of the electric welding machine, it must be turned off immediately and reported to the foreman. If a fire occurs in the windings or nearby objects, turn off the power and immediately take measures to extinguish the fire. The procedure for providing first aid.

The welder must take measures to provide the necessary assistance to the victim in accidents until the doctor arrives.

First aid sequence:

  • eliminate the influence on the body of harmful factors that threaten the health and life of the victim;
  • determine the nature and severity of injuries, the greatest threat to the life of the victim and the sequence of measures to save him;
  • take the necessary measures to save the victim in order of urgency (restore airway patency, perform artificial respiration, external cardiac massage, stop bleeding, apply a bandage, etc.);
  • support the casualty’s basic vital functions until paramedics arrive;
  • call an ambulance or a doctor, or take measures to transport the victim to the nearest medical facility.

Assistance to victims who are not medical workers should not replace assistance from medical personnel and should be provided only before the arrival of a doctor.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Siemens, which builds high-speed trains for German railways (and Sapsan for Russia), has rented the only wind tunnel in Europe for 1000 hours, which can accommodate an entire train.

The pipe, located in Austria, not only blows through the means of transport placed in it, but also allows you to simulate various climatic conditions that a train can face, from frost to heat.

On earlier models of Siemens high-speed trains, doors can jam in cold weather, and air conditioners can fail in hot weather.
