Labor protection instructions on the procedure for using bleach to disinfect production premises. Full document Occupational Safety and Health / Standard instructions for labor protection Safe Operation 1. General safety requirements The heads of linear facilities are responsible for ensuring that workers carrying out disinfection work comply with personal safety rules when preparing a disinfection solution and its use. The disinfectant solution is prepared from grade A and B bleach, which is a white powder with a chlorine smell. Chloride of lime is a strong oxidizing agent; upon contact with organic substances, it can lead to charring, discolors fabrics, and damages metal products. If ingested, it is a hazardous substance of class III hazard. In dry form and concentrated solutions may cause irritation to the skin, mucous membranes of the eyes and upper respiratory tract. 2. Safety requirements before starting work For the purpose of disinfection, a cleared solution, bleach-lime milk and bleach powder are used. To prepare a 10% or 20% cleared (mother) solution of bleach, 1 or 2 kg of bleach, respectively, is mixed with a small volume of water to form a slurry and the remainder of the water (up to 10 l) is added and mixed until a homogeneous suspension is formed. The suspension is left to thaw in a dark glass or enamel container with a tight lid for 24 hours. The cleared bleach solution is carefully poured or filtered into a clean container and stored for no more than 7 days. A working 1% solution is prepared from a cleared (mother solution) by dissolving it in chlorine water at the rate of 1000 g of a 10% mother solution per 10 liters of chlorine water. The solution is prepared immediately before use. It is allowed to store unused solution for 24 hours after preparation in a container with a tightly closed lid. 3. Safety requirements during work The areas of the room (floor, walls, doors, window frames) and furnishings are irrigated or thoroughly wiped with rags, which are moistened with a 0,5% solution of bleach at the rate of 0,3 liters per 1 m2, and sanitary products (washbasins, toilets, urinals) 0,5 .1 l per 2 m30. After disinfection, wet cleaning and thorough ventilation of the premises are carried out for 10 minutes in the absence of people in the room. External toilets are treated with a 0,5% bleach solution at a rate of 1 liters. per 2mXNUMX. Persons with hypersensitivity to chlorine are not allowed to work with bleach. Work on preparing a working solution of bleach must be carried out in compliance with personal safety measures, ensuring protection of the respiratory system, skin and eyes - work in protective clothing (robe, cap, apron made of rubberized fabric, rubber gloves, rubber shoes), in safety glasses type PO -2, PO-3 or monoblock, in a respirator RU-60M or RPG-67 with a cartridge of grade B or similar. 4. Safety requirements upon completion of work During disinfection, it is forbidden to consume food, drink, smoke. After finishing work, wash your face and hands thoroughly with soap and water. Bleached lime is transported by road in compliance with safety precautions in closed containers or original packaging. Store bleach in packaging or closed containers in well-ventilated, dry, concrete-covered areas away from sources of open flame and heat. There should be no unauthorized persons in the storage rooms. 5. Safety requirements in emergency situations In case of accidental contact of the drug with the eyes, rinse them with a 0,5% sodium thiosulfate solution and then with running water for 10-15 minutes. and consult a doctor. If lime accidentally gets into the stomach, rinse it with water (drink several glasses of water) and then milk. If the drug accidentally comes into contact with the skin, rinse the affected area of skin with running water. If the respiratory tract is affected, it is necessary to take the victim out into fresh air or into a ventilated room, provide peace, warmth, free him from tight clothing, give him water to rinse his mouth, throat, nose, and give him milk to drink.
