For self defense can be used various means.

A mixture of ground pepper and tobacco, carried in a plastic bag, unexpectedly thrown into the eyes of an attacker, can disable him for a long time and thus give you the opportunity to hide.

A handful of sand tossed in the face of a criminal can buy him moments to escape.

If you have a handful of coins or a bunch of keys on hand, throw them in your opponent's eyes, forcing them to close their eyes and give you the moment to strike at a weak spot.

In case of danger, use an aerosol can with hairspray or deodorant, cologne. Spray them in the eyes of the enemy. You can prepare such a weapon yourself: for this, fill a plastic or rubber enema with vinegar essence or ammonia.

A jacket, raincoat, other clothes can be thrown over the head of the attacker, used to hinder the actions of the enemy.

A hat, gloves, thrown in the face of a criminal, allow you to win a split second in a fight.

Tear gas in special cartridges is a highly effective defense against attacks. When used correctly, it will neutralize the criminal for 5-10 minutes, this is quite enough to run away from the attacker. To ensure that you do not end up with a nerve gas canister, contact only specialized stores for self-defense equipment. Only adult citizens can carry cans with them.

An effective psychological weapon is the usual whistle. It can be worn in place of a keychain.

If it was not possible to escape from the criminal and the threat to your life is real, use it for self-defense sharp or heavy objects:

  • a pen, pencil or screwdriver can be stuck in the face or neck;
  • a corkscrew or a fork can be hit straight and then quickly turned: such a blow is especially effective in the face, neck, abdomen;
  • you can hit the keys in the face, neck;
  • an umbrella should be used in a fight like a bayonet; it is not worth waving it - in this case it can be easily snatched out;
  • a stick, a piece of reinforcement can be used as a bayonet or club, depending on their shape and weight;
  • a metal hair comb with a sharp end can be used for stabbing in the face, neck;
  • with shoes removed from the foot, you can strike at the face, neck (a hit with a heel is effective; especially if you hit with shoes without removing it from your foot, because the legs are much stronger than the hands); the necessary special skills for such strikes can be acquired in hand-to-hand combat classes;
  • taking the bottle by the neck, you can strike on the head, neck, and other parts of the enemy’s body (if you break the bottle on something hard, holding on to its neck, a formidable piercing and cutting weapon will appear in your hand); something similar can be done with a glass;
  • a stone or piece of glass that is at hand can be used for self-defense, taking into account their shape and weight;
  • table knives can be used as piercing and cutting self-defense tools;
  • a chair, a stool, a briefcase, a bag with things can be protected from blows; the same objects can strike at various parts of the opponent's body. When choosing means of self-defense, remember that the possession of a firearm without a special permit is a criminal offense.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Getting water even from desert air 09.09.2019

Despite the fact that advanced technologies serve humanity in the XNUMXst century, many populated regions on our planet still suffer from a shortage of drinking water. But this crisis can be resolved in the near future. Yagi, a chemist at the University of California at Berkeley, said he and his colleagues have created a solar-powered device that could provide water to millions of people.

It is based on a porous crystalline material known as a metal-organic framework (MOF) that acts like a sponge: it sucks water vapor out of the air, even in the desert, and then releases it as liquid water.

Yagi and his colleagues synthesized the first MOF in 1995, and since then chemists have designed tens of thousands of similar structures. Each is made up of metal atoms that act as hubs connected in a porous network by organic linkers designed to quickly hold the hubs and create openings to accommodate molecular "guests". By mixing and matching metals and linkers, the researchers found they could tailor pores to trap gas molecules such as water vapor and carbon dioxide (CO2).

The first versions of the device using MOF turned out to be too expensive - chemists used zirconium, which costs about $ 160 per kilo and therefore is not profitable for the mass industry. However, they recently solved this problem: the new frame was already synthesized on the basis of aluminum (which costs $3 per kilogram) and was named MOF-303.

The initial efficiency also left much to be desired. But now, using MOF-303's ability to fill and empty pores in just minutes, the team can do dozens of these cycles every day. Backed by a solar panel to power a fan and heater that speed up cycles, the device produces up to 1,3 liters of water per kilogram of MOF per day, even from desert air. But this is not the limit: Yagi expects further improvements that will increase this amount to 8-10 liters per day. Last year, he founded Water Harvesting, which plans to release a microwave device this fall that can produce up to 8 liters a day. Next year, the company is promising a large-scale version that will produce 22 liters per day, enough to supply a small village. "We're just making water mobile," says Yagi. "It's like taking a wired phone and making it wireless."
