Average person

Adolphe Quetelet
Adolphe Quetelet

Phraseologism: Average person.

Meaning: The person corresponding to the average parameters.

Origin: The probable primary source of the expression is the work "Social Physics" (1835) by the Belgian statistician Adolphe Quetelet (1796-1874). According to Quetelet's theory, "the bearer of all the average qualities that can be found in people" is the "average person". This "average man", embodying all the typical, average qualities (physical, moral, intellectual) of a given society, is its invariable type. Its preservation is supported by world laws, over which mankind has no power. Any deviations from the "average man", or, according to Quetelet's theory, distortions of this type, are "mistakes of nature." "Social physics", as conceived by Quetelet, should establish conservation laws of the "average man" type. Subsequently, the expression was rethought and began to mean just an average person (consumer, voter, etc.).

Random phraseology:

By the grace of God.

Meaning:

About an artist, poet, artist, singer ("artist by the grace of God"), who has an innate gift, talent - a spark of God.

Origin:

In the New Testament, in the First Letter of the Apostle Paul to the Corinthians (3:10), it is said: "I, according to the grace given to me from God, as a wise builder, laid the foundation, and another is building on it..." In the Latin version of this message : Dei gratia - "by the grace of God" or "by the grace of God". In 592 AD e. The Lombard queen Theodelinda, after her marriage to Agilulf, built a cathedral in Monza and donated to its treasury a golden crown with the inscription: "Agilulf, by the grace of God, king of Italy ..." Subsequently, the highest spiritual and secular persons began to use this expression in their titles.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Fruit picking drones 24.08.2022

Fruit that rots on trees or on the ground costs farmers about $30 billion in sales a year. Fruit harvested even two weeks late loses 80% of its value.

Now the main cause of lost production, sometimes in the form of fruit rotting right on the trees, is the global shortage of fruit pickers, which is estimated to grow to five million workers by 2050. Even today, more than 10% of all fruit in the world cannot be harvested - equivalent to the total annual fruit consumption in the entire European Union.

Israeli startup Tevel Aerobotics Technologies has developed autonomous flying robots that fly from a base station, pluck only ripe fruits from a tree, and carefully lower them to be harvested. Because they are not human, Tevel assemblers can work XNUMX/XNUMX during the harvest. They never get tired, they never need to go out for coffee or the toilet, and they don't plan vacations.

Works run on gas and electricity. Each FAR is equipped with artificial intelligence (II), which helps to determine whether a particular fruit is ready for harvest; the best way to pick/remove the fruit from a branch with a meter long mechanical hand; and whether it has flaws that make it unmarketable and therefore should be thrown out.
