Focus Description:

The magician invites the viewer to think of a number from 1 to 12 inclusive. The magician begins to touch each digit of the clock face with a pencil or pen, seemingly in a completely random order. At this moment, the viewer needs to count the numbers from the intended number to 20 for each touch of the magician on the dial. Having reached 20, the viewer says "Stop!", Which means a complete stop of the magician's movements. And what is the audience's surprise when, with the phrase "Stop!", the pencil is exactly on the dial number that the viewer intended.

To indicate the intended number, the magician must make the first eight touches in a completely chaotic manner. But, as soon as the countdown has reached 9, the magician must touch the number 12 on the dial, and do subsequent touches in reverse clockwise order, just as before - one touch for each count of the spectator. If all these conditions are met, then when the selected person says "Stop!", the pencil will stop exactly at the number that was made up.

If the viewer does not want to say "Stop!" on the number 20, then you can offer him to stop on any other number that exceeds the number 12, but the viewer must say which number he chose to stop. 12 should be subtracted from the new number, and the resulting remainder is an indication of how many chaotic touches with a pencil on the dial can be made. After this number - the remainder, the pencil should touch the number 12 on the dial, and the countdown is made in the order already indicated.

Focus secret:

The viewer may notice that you have begun to touch the pencil in exact order in the clock countdown. To divert the attention of the audience, you need to talk to them with something interesting during the trick. For example, you can talk about the fact that it was at this moment that the "magic" pencil reads information from the audience, and itself indicates the intended number at the end of the focus.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Silicon-carbon will extend battery life 15.02.2021

Huawei has patented a silicon-carbon composite material and a method for producing it. This material is planned to be used in new lithium-ion batteries to extend their service life.

According to the patent description, we are talking about a durable composite material that includes a core (core) coated with an alkaline layer. The silicon core is filled with amorphous carbon, while the pore size does not exceed 50 nm.

The patent states that the tiny pore structure of the silicon-carbon composite material can effectively reduce the contact area between the silicon material and the electrolyte, which reduces the possibility of side reactions and prolongs battery life.

At the same time, the graphite framework can effectively reduce the volumetric expansion and contraction of the material to improve the structural stability and energy density of the composite material.
