Focus Description:

The audience is shown four identical pairs of papers with the names of famous magicians in the past and two ordinary paper bags. A complete set of leaflets is placed in a bag and handed over to the viewer. Another set is also placed in a bag, which remains in the hands of the magician. Everyone - both the spectator and the magician - takes out one folded piece of paper from the bag, and they exchange the pieces with each other. When the sheets are opened and read aloud, it turns out that the names on them are the same. The procedure is repeated three times with an amazing result: the spectator and magician always simultaneously take out identical leaves.

Focus secret:

(A) For this trick, you need to take two ordinary paper bags and prepare two sets of sheets on which the names of famous magicians are written (you can write any names or names - famous singers, actors, presidents, names of cities). Make two sets absolutely identical. Before you fold the pieces of paper in quarters, write the names of the magicians on them. One of the sets must undergo secret additional training as follows: the "Dunninger" sheet remains the same as it was; at the sheet "Thurston" you bend one corner; the Houdini sheet has two corners; the Kellar sheet has three corners. A sheet prepared in this way can be recognized at a glance. This will be your "secret": this particular set will be yours during the presentation.

Focus Curious Coincidence

1. When starting a trick demonstration, place an unprepared set of folded papers in a paper bag and hand it to the viewer. Put the prepared set in another bag and take this bag in your left hand.

2. Invite the spectator to remove one of the folded pieces of paper from the bag. You do the same. Having taken out your leaflet, you determine at a glance which name you got thanks to the folded (or not folded) corners. The figure shows that you took out a piece of paper with two folded corners, that is, you got "Houdini".

3. You put a piece of paper on the table in front of everyone.

4. By this time, the viewer also took out a piece of paper. Warn him not to unroll it yet.

5. Take a piece of paper from the viewer and invite him to pick up your piece of paper from the table and unfold it.

6. While the spectator unfolds your sheet, you unfold a sheet from his set. You already know what name is indicated on the piece of paper that the viewer has just unfolded, thanks to the folded corners. If you accidentally come across a different sheet, then you loudly pronounce something different from what is written on it. Suppose you are holding a piece of Kellar in your hands, as shown in the figure, but you are reading Houdini aloud. Immediately after that, fold the piece of paper and put it on the table, to the side.

7. Repeat the procedure with the three remaining pairs of leaves. If at some point the names coincide, consider that a genuine miracle has happened to you. If not, then call out the desired name, as described in step 6. This is not difficult for you, because in the corners you always know which name to pronounce. Preliminary rehearsals will help you organize a truly spectacular show based on this simple principle.

It is important that the leaflets are not checked until the procedure is complete. Put them on the table in a disorderly pile so that the viewer does not notice the sheet on which the procedure was completed, and did not subsequently find out that you pronounced a completely different name, and not what is indicated on this sheet. Perform this simple trick several times and even you will be surprised how amazing it is for the audience.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Solar panels are thinner than cobwebs 19.04.2012

Scientists have developed flexible solar panels with a thickness of about 1,9 micrometers.
Austrian and Japanese researchers have unveiled solar panels thinner than cobwebs and so flexible that they can be wrapped around a human hair.

The new technology opens up the possibility of creating thin-film devices with electrodes only about 1,9 micrometers thick - that's 1/10th the thickness of today's thinnest solar panels.

The ultra-thin solar panel can find the widest application, because its weight is so small that it cannot be felt by a human hand. The thinnest flexible polymer-based solar panels can be embedded in clothing, mobile electronic devices, aircraft, medical sensors for the elderly, space technology, etc.

At the same time, the new panels have the main advantage of traditional ones - scalability. In other words: the larger the solar panel, the more electricity it produces. Also, due to its small thickness and flexibility, the new solar panel is more resistant to fracture and puncture damage. In particular, it can be stretched by 300%, and the panel will continue to work.

The efficiency of converting light into electricity in the new panel is low: about 4,2%. However, for such a technology, this is already an achievement, because modern heavy silicon panels cannot be applied, for example, to a light sail of a yacht. According to the developers, the novelty will go on commercial sale within five years.
