Focus Description:

The magician looks for a conceived card.

Focus secret:

Invite someone to secretly conceive a card and, before it is called, remove it from the deck.

This trick is based on the same principles as the previous one, and is done in much the same way. You invite someone to conceive a map (without naming it). When he does, you invite another person to shuffle the deck and finally to a third person to remove it.

Then, having chosen a card from the deck, you go to your table and, without showing this card, put it on the table with a notch up, holding the rest of the deck in your left hand.

Then, turning to the person who planned the card, you say: "The card that I put on the table is the one you planned. I ask you to name it." Let him name the ace of spades. As in the previous case, you say:

"Let me first show you that the ace of spades is no longer in the deck." Approaching the audience and quickly sorting through the cards, you glance at the ace of spades, and push him back.

Showing that it does not seem to be in the deck, you turn over the cards (and the ace, of course, will fit on top) and hide it in your hand.

Leaving the deck to the audience, you return to the table and take the card lying there with the same hand in which the ace of spades is hidden. Move the card back to the edge of the table and when it falls into the sideboard, reveal the Ace of Spades instead. This trick takes some practice, but if done well it produces a complete illusion.

All of the above advice was based on the assumption that you have a real magician's table at hand, which is said to have a sideboard and a hidden box at the back for receiving items that the magician needs to take or put down discreetly from the public.

But this trick can be performed without the use of such a table, however, it is necessary to introduce some modification. If you are using an ordinary table, then it is best to finish the trick as follows.

Feel free to approach the table, take the card lying on it with your right hand (in which the conceived card is hidden) and, without looking at it, show it to the audience with the words: "Here is the ace of spades."

Since the card is completely different (for example, the seven of tambourines), the audience, of course, will think that the trick has failed, and they will laugh at you. Meanwhile, you glance at the map and pretend to be surprised and embarrassed by your mistake.

However, after a momentary pause, you say, holding the card upside down between the thumb and second fingers of your left hand, "I don't understand at all how the mistake could have happened. However, I will correct it."

By swapping a card, after a short delay to increase the effect of the transformation, you again reveal a card, which this time will be real.

The audience will, of course, conclude that the alleged error was feigned, designed to make the trick come out more effectively.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Smart pen with spell checker 06.08.2013

Young German entrepreneurs Falk Wolsky and Daniel Kaesmacher are planning to start serial production of the Lernstift pen, capable of checking spelling and putting beautiful handwriting, in six months.

Lernstift contains an embedded computer running a Linux kernel operating system, a motion sensor, memory, a Wi-Fi adapter and a vibration motor. The motion sensor, consisting of an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a magnetometer, has a resolution of 400 dpi. It scans the text that the user writes. Every second, the sensor is able to send data to the processor 200 times.

The computer has software installed that decrypts the data received from the sensor. The program was developed by "the world leader in optical recognition technology" Vision Objects and "has been tested on millions of tablets and smartphones around the world." The authors of the project turned to many third-party companies for help. For example, the design of the handle was developed by the design office ipdd from Stuttgart.

The program needs much less data than the sensor can provide - a resolution of 100 dpi is enough to recognize handwritten text, and 50 times per second is enough to receive data. The program is executed by the processor included in the computer built into Lernstift, which is equipped with 128 MB of RAM. The recognition rate of one character is 20 ms.

Lernstift can do two things. The first function is error checking. If the user makes a mistake in a word, the pen will automatically vibrate. The second function is handwriting improvement. The pen vibrates if the handwriting becomes illegible.

The Lernstift software is able to adapt to a person's handwriting. To calibrate the pen, the user needs to write a few words in block letters and then in italics. Based on these data, the program will further study the user's handwriting.

The Lernstift pen is intended to be used by children aged 5 years and older and adults of all ages. Pen nibs can be changed. Pens are planned to be produced in blue and pink colors - for boys and girls. And an open programming interface (API) will allow third-party developers to create various applications for Lernstift.

Lernstift can be connected to a computer, smartphone or tablet and save the text that is written with it. So you can save notes, or, for example, parents can check the progress of their child. Notes can be shared on Facebook and Twitter.
