Focus Description:

Show the audience a black slate. Write the number "2" on the left side of it with chalk. After it, a "+" sign will be written by itself. Behind the "+" sign, write another number 2. Following it, like the "+" sign, the "=" sign will be written by itself. It remains to write the number 4 in small letters on the right.

Focus secret:

Especially the effect of the focus lies in the "self-writing" signs "+" and "=". This is done using paper strips glued together with rings and enveloping both sides of the slate board. The board itself can be made of thick cardboard or plywood. In it, in appropriate places, there are slots through which pieces of paper pass. The halves of the paper rings are painted board black, while the other halves are white as chalk.

At first, the stripes are located with the black side, like the board itself, towards the audience. After writing the first number, hold the board from below with a hand with chalk, and with the other hand, from the back of the board, move the strips with the white part towards the audience. It will seem that the "+" sign is self-written. Hold the board again with your left hand, and write the second number with your right hand. Demonstrate the self-writing sign "=" in the same way. Then write the result - the last digit.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Comparator Texas Instruments TLV3691IDCKR 09.02.2015

The new TLV3691IDCKR comparator from Texas Instruments is a Nanopower comparator, drawing an extremely low current of 75 nA and yet capable of operating at supply voltages as low as 0,9V. for portable battery devices.

The advantage of the comparator is a wide range of input signals - their value can be 100 mV higher than the levels of the power lines. The TLV3691IDCKR can be used as a zero-crossing detector, as a windowed comparator (2xTLV3691), as an over-current sensor, and for over- and under-power protection in the device.

The TLV3691 has an internal hysteresis of 17 mV to reduce the sensitivity of the comparator to the noise of the monitored signal. An additional increased hysteresis can be arranged in the classical way using a bias resistor.

The TLV3691 comparator operates in a wide industrial temperature range of -40...125°C.
