Focus Description:

The magician enters the stage, takes a glass from the illusion table and asks his assistant to bring a carafe of water. An assistant brings a decanter and fills the magician's glass with water. After drinking a few sips, the performer puts the glass with the remaining water on the table. Then he makes several circular movements over the glass with his right hand and begins to move away from the table. A glass of water rises into the air. The artist walks around the stage, and a glass of water obediently moves in the air at the direction of the performer's hand, making his miraculous flight.

Finally, the artist takes the glass with his left hand and puts it on the table or gives it to an assistant.

Focus secret:

The props needed to perform this trick consist of an illusion table, a glass, and a decanter. If the artist performs without an assistant, then he must put a decanter of water and a glass on the table in advance, before the performance.

The secret of the focus lies in the design of the glass. Tiny holes are drilled along the edges of the glass from two opposite sides - 1 mm in diameter, through which a thin needle can pass. A flesh-colored nylon thread is threaded through these holes, which forms an arc invisible to the viewer's eyes, similar to the handle of a bucket:

For the first time, the magician usually takes the glass in the same way as any of us would take it, wanting to get drunk.

Then, when the glass is already filled with water and the performer, having taken a few sips from it, puts it on the illusion table, he brings the right hand to the glass, straightening his fingers so that the palm is facing the glass:

Having made this movement, the artist carefully, without changing the position of the hand, puts on it the thin handle of the glass:

As the magician moves away from the table, the glass will naturally move through the air with him:

Finishing the trick, the performer takes the glass with his left hand, and carefully releases his right hand from under an arc invisible to the viewer and puts the glass in place or passes it to an assistant.

Machine for thinning flowers in gardens 02.05.2024

In modern agriculture, technological progress is developing aimed at increasing the efficiency of plant care processes. The innovative Florix flower thinning machine was presented in Italy, designed to optimize the harvesting stage. This tool is equipped with mobile arms, allowing it to be easily adapted to the needs of the garden. The operator can adjust the speed of the thin wires by controlling them from the tractor cab using a joystick. This approach significantly increases the efficiency of the flower thinning process, providing the possibility of individual adjustment to the specific conditions of the garden, as well as the variety and type of fruit grown in it. After testing the Florix machine for two years on various types of fruit, the results were very encouraging. Farmers such as Filiberto Montanari, who has used a Florix machine for several years, have reported a significant reduction in the time and labor required to thin flowers. ... >>

Advanced Infrared Microscope 02.05.2024

Microscopes play an important role in scientific research, allowing scientists to delve into structures and processes invisible to the eye. However, various microscopy methods have their limitations, and among them was the limitation of resolution when using the infrared range. But the latest achievements of Japanese researchers from the University of Tokyo open up new prospects for studying the microworld. Scientists from the University of Tokyo have unveiled a new microscope that will revolutionize the capabilities of infrared microscopy. This advanced instrument allows you to see the internal structures of living bacteria with amazing clarity on the nanometer scale. Typically, mid-infrared microscopes are limited by low resolution, but the latest development from Japanese researchers overcomes these limitations. According to scientists, the developed microscope allows creating images with a resolution of up to 120 nanometers, which is 30 times higher than the resolution of traditional microscopes. ... >>

Air trap for insects 01.05.2024

Agriculture is one of the key sectors of the economy, and pest control is an integral part of this process. A team of scientists from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Potato Research Institute (ICAR-CPRI), Shimla, has come up with an innovative solution to this problem - a wind-powered insect air trap. This device addresses the shortcomings of traditional pest control methods by providing real-time insect population data. The trap is powered entirely by wind energy, making it an environmentally friendly solution that requires no power. Its unique design allows monitoring of both harmful and beneficial insects, providing a complete overview of the population in any agricultural area. “By assessing target pests at the right time, we can take necessary measures to control both pests and diseases,” says Kapil ... >>

Complete human genome presented 06.04.2022

Researchers have been able to decipher the missing links in the human genome and this makes it possible to find out where different mutations come from.

19 years ago, scientists announced that they had succeeded in deciphering the complete sequence of the human genome. But then about 8% of the information could not be deciphered. This happened because this part of the genome consists of repetitive DNA fragments that were difficult to connect with the rest.

But now scientists from the National Human Genome Research Institute, which is part of the US National Institutes of Health, have solved this problem.

"The fact that we have been able to completely decipher the complete sequence of the human genome is one of the greatest scientific achievements. It gives us complete information about the structure of our DNA. This will greatly expand the possibilities of research into genetic diseases in humans," says Eric Green, director of the National Genome Research Institute. person.

The complete genome consists of 3,055 billion base pairs, the units that make up chromosomes and our genes, and 19 genes that code for proteins. In the course of the study, scientists discovered approximately 969 new genes, most of which do not work, but 2 of them may still be active.

Scientists have also discovered approximately 2 million additional genetic variants. Of these, 622 variants are present in genes that are important from a medical point of view.

New DNA sequences have provided new insights into the region around the centromere, a region of the chromosome that plays an important role in the process of nuclear division and is involved in the control of gene expression. Around the centromere, chromosomes are pulled apart during cell division to ensure that each "daughter" cell inherits the proper number of chromosomes.
