There are many experiments showing that in a fast flow of water (and air jets) the pressure is less than in the environment. These experiences have often been described, and perhaps you know them well. You have heard that a table tennis ball easily dances on a stream of air if you blow it from below with a small tube, that two pieces of paper located side by side approach each other if you blow between them, that a ball on a thread, if brought to a stream of water, sticks To her?

jet property

Try to do a similar experiment with a teaspoon, holding it loosely with two fingers and bringing the convex part to a strong stream from a water tap. It will stick to the jet so much that it will take effort to tear it off.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Cold is more dangerous than heat 08.06.2015

Scientists have found that 20 times more people die from cold than from heat.

It is generally accepted that high temperatures have a detrimental effect on the body - they make the heart fail, increase blood pressure and cause dehydration. And many doctors call winter weather optimal for health and beauty. A large-scale study conducted by a group of scientists from different countries proves that everything is exactly the opposite.

Experts studied 74 million deaths that occurred from 1985 to 2012 in 384 different locations in 13 countries. The climate in them ranged from temperate to subtropical. The scientists collected data on average temperature, humidity and air pollution levels to understand what kind of weather people are least likely to die in.

Of all the deaths studied, an average of 7,71% was directly caused by abnormal temperatures for a particular region. In some countries, such as Thailand, Brazil and Sweden, this figure was lower at 3%, and in China, Italy and Japan - as much as 11%. Scientists were surprised to find that out of the total number of "weather" deaths, 7,29%, were associated with cold. Only 0,42% of people died due to the heat.

Another surprise was that extreme temperatures were responsible for only 1% of deaths, and the rest occurred with slight drops or increases in thermometer readings. According to the authors of the study, health services are usually activated only during the heat, but they clearly need to be more attentive when the onset of cold weather, even if small.
