Problem Possible reasons Suggested Solutions
The turbine turns too slowly or turns with difficulty. Loop screw is too tight. Use pliers to enlarge the loop screw or replace it with a larger one.
The pointed end of the dowel sticks in the screw. Resharpen the dowel or sand it with sandpaper.
The voltage is not readable on the voltmeter or its readings are (incorrect) unstable. The magnets are too weak. Replace with stronger magnets. Use ultra-strong sparse grounded magnets.
The voltmeter is set to DC (direct current) or you are using a voltmeter that is not set to AC (alternating current). Set the voltmeter to AC (alternating current) or switch to a digital voltmeter with an AC (alternating current) setting.
The magnets are not oriented correctly. Remove the rotor and recheck the magnets. They must all be either North or South.
The windings are incorrectly oriented. Recheck winding orientation. Following the wire in the pattern, it must be helical through the first winding, either clockwise, and must go in the same direction in all other windings.
Poor connection to the voltmeter. Use a screw to reduce the height of the rotor disc by 1mm from the windings.
The gap between the magnets and the windings is too large. Check the loop screw, carcass, windings, screw to make sure nothing is binding or causing excessive friction.
The rotor turns too slowly. Adjust or re-size as necessary to get the turbine to spin freely.
Reading more than 1V AC, but LED (Light Emitting Diode does not light up.). LED (light emitting diode) may have too high voltage amplitude. Replace an LED (light emitting diode) that becomes radioactive (activated) at 900 millivolts or less.
There is a bad connection on one or two conductors of the LED. Unwind the wire from the conductors, sand again, wind it tight, or use solder (solder).
Magnetic or metal washer falls off the rotor Poor adhesion between washer and rotor disc. Wipe with alcohol or soap and water to remove grease from the washer. Wipe the surface of the washer with sandpaper and glue again with a generous amount of hot glue.
Poor adhesion (adhesion) between the magnets and the washer caused by a weak magnet. Replace with a stronger magnet or add more hot glue or cyanoacrylate glue to make the magnet stick stronger.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Major risk factor for gambling addiction 07.05.2024

Computer games are becoming an increasingly popular form of entertainment among teenagers, but the associated risk of gaming addiction remains a significant problem. American scientists conducted a study to determine the main factors contributing to this addiction and offer recommendations for its prevention. Over the course of six years, 385 teenagers were followed to find out what factors may predispose them to gambling addiction. The results showed that 90% of study participants were not at risk of addiction, while 10% became gambling addicts. It turned out that the key factor in the onset of gambling addiction is a low level of prosocial behavior. Teenagers with a low level of prosocial behavior do not show interest in the help and support of others, which can lead to a loss of contact with the real world and a deepening dependence on virtual reality offered by computer games. Based on these results, scientists ... >>

Traffic noise delays the growth of chicks 06.05.2024

The sounds that surround us in modern cities are becoming increasingly piercing. However, few people think about how this noise affects the animal world, especially such delicate creatures as chicks that have not yet hatched from their eggs. Recent research is shedding light on this issue, indicating serious consequences for their development and survival. Scientists have found that exposure of zebra diamondback chicks to traffic noise can cause serious disruption to their development. Experiments have shown that noise pollution can significantly delay their hatching, and those chicks that do emerge face a number of health-promoting problems. The researchers also found that the negative effects of noise pollution extend into the adult birds. Reduced chances of reproduction and decreased fertility indicate the long-term effects that traffic noise has on wildlife. The study results highlight the need ... >>

Found the closest black hole to Earth 12.05.2020

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) announces an important discovery: the closest black hole to us known to date has been discovered.

The object is located at a distance of approximately 1000 light years from Earth. Curiously, this black hole is part of a triple star system that is visible to the naked eye.

This is a system with the designation HR 6819, which is located in the constellation of the Telescope. To study this structure, the FEROS spectrograph was used on the 2,2-meter MPG/ESO telescope at ESO's La Silla Observatory in Chile.

It turned out that one of the two visible stars revolves around an invisible companion in 40 days, and the second is at a great distance from this inner pair. Observations have shown that the mysterious invisible object is a black hole. Its mass is estimated to be at least four solar masses.

The hidden black hole in HR 6819 is one of the very first stellar-mass black holes discovered that do not actively interact with their surroundings and therefore remain truly black.

Experts say that the significance of the discovery is difficult to overestimate. The discovery of this "sleeping" invisible black hole gives clues to where other hidden black holes in the Milky Way might be.
