The existence of an entropy rule for quantum entanglement has been proven 09.05.2024

Quantum mechanics continues to amaze us with its mysterious phenomena and unexpected discoveries. Recently, Bartosz Regula from the RIKEN Center for Quantum Computing and Ludovico Lamy from the University of Amsterdam presented a new discovery that concerns quantum entanglement and its relation to entropy. Quantum entanglement plays an important role in modern quantum information science and technology. However, the complexity of its structure makes understanding and managing it challenging. Regulus and Lamy's discovery shows that quantum entanglement follows an entropy rule similar to that for classical systems. This discovery opens new perspectives in the field of quantum information science and technology, deepening our understanding of quantum entanglement and its connection to thermodynamics. The results of the study indicate the possibility of reversibility of entanglement transformations, which could greatly simplify their use in various quantum technologies. Opening a new rule ... >>

Sony discontinues MiniDisc 11.02.2013

The Japanese company Sony has announced the cessation of production of its MiniDisc player. The native disc format player will be permanently discontinued at the end of this winter, with the final batch of these devices going on sale in March. The cessation of production means that Sony has exhausted the last stock of the components of the MiniDisc itself, which were also used in the Sony PSP game consoles.

Even with its limitations and shortcomings associated with the use of proprietary format discs in the player, the device lasted 20 years on the market, despite fierce competition from MP3 players from other manufacturers and the huge popularity of the iPod. However, in the 2000s, sales of the Sony MiniDisc dropped dramatically. However, despite the fact that the player will no longer be produced, the mini-discs themselves will still be produced in small batches, since the PSP console is still on the market.
