Due to the presence of more water in xylolite mass strong pressure must be applied to set the mass.

Usually, metal molds and a strong press with a spindle are used, through which the mass is strongly compressed. For large items, especially for the manufacture of large plates, the pressure of the press with a spindle is not enough, and it is recommended to use a hydraulic press. For example, in order to make plates 100 cm long, 50 cm wide and 20-25 mm thick, an iron plate is taken as the base, iron frames are placed on it, the internal dimensions of which are 100 and 50 cm, but the height is 40-50 mm .

These frames are filled to the brim with a pasty mass; an iron plate is superimposed on each of the frames, which fits tightly into it, but is equipped with ribs that allow it to enter the frame only 20-25 mm. Exactly the same form with a xylolite mass is applied to this plate and thus several forms are installed by floors.

These molds are placed in a hydraulic press and progressively compressed. The pressure is increased until the ribbed plates are completely pressed into the frames. Under this pressure, the mass is furnished in molds until it completely hardens (approximately 24 hours), then the press is opened and the plates are removed.

Small plates, used for example for the manufacture of mosaic floors, tiles, for bathroom lining, for plinths, column tops, brackets, mirror frames, pictures, etc., are produced in presses with a spindle, but also in iron molds, in which they must remain until the mass solidifies.

The molded objects are air dried to remove excess water they contain. After air drying, for the final removal of water, objects can be dried in drying chambers.

After such drying, objects in their appearance and hardness resemble a stone-like mass, with a relatively light weight.

Artificial leather for touch emulation 15.04.2024

In a modern technology world where distance is becoming increasingly commonplace, maintaining connection and a sense of closeness is important. Recent developments in artificial skin by German scientists from Saarland University represent a new era in virtual interactions. German researchers from Saarland University have developed ultra-thin films that can transmit the sensation of touch over a distance. This cutting-edge technology provides new opportunities for virtual communication, especially for those who find themselves far from their loved ones. The ultra-thin films developed by the researchers, just 50 micrometers thick, can be integrated into textiles and worn like a second skin. These films act as sensors that recognize tactile signals from mom or dad, and as actuators that transmit these movements to the baby. Parents' touch to the fabric activates sensors that react to pressure and deform the ultra-thin film. This ... >>

Petgugu Global cat litter 15.04.2024

Taking care of pets can often be a challenge, especially when it comes to keeping your home clean. A new interesting solution from the Petgugu Global startup has been presented, which will make life easier for cat owners and help them keep their home perfectly clean and tidy. Startup Petgugu Global has unveiled a unique cat toilet that can automatically flush feces, keeping your home clean and fresh. This innovative device is equipped with various smart sensors that monitor your pet's toilet activity and activate to automatically clean after use. The device connects to the sewer system and ensures efficient waste removal without the need for intervention from the owner. Additionally, the toilet has a large flushable storage capacity, making it ideal for multi-cat households. The Petgugu cat litter bowl is designed for use with water-soluble litters and offers a range of additional ... >>

The attractiveness of caring men 14.04.2024

The stereotype that women prefer "bad boys" has long been widespread. However, recent research conducted by British scientists from Monash University offers a new perspective on this issue. They looked at how women responded to men's emotional responsibility and willingness to help others. The study's findings could change our understanding of what makes men attractive to women. A study conducted by scientists from Monash University leads to new findings about men's attractiveness to women. In the experiment, women were shown photographs of men with brief stories about their behavior in various situations, including their reaction to an encounter with a homeless person. Some of the men ignored the homeless man, while others helped him, such as buying him food. A study found that men who showed empathy and kindness were more attractive to women compared to men who showed empathy and kindness. ... >>

Biosensor for highly sensitive detection of molecules 21.01.2021

Imec has unveiled the smallest silicon FinFET that functions as a biosensor. The developers managed to create an ultra-small transistor: the edge width is 13 nm, and the gate length is 50 nm.

Due to their high degree of integration and low cost, field-effect transistors (FETs) have generated great interest for biosensing applications such as DNA, protein, virus and pH detection. When biomolecules bind to the chemically modified dielectric surface of the gate, its threshold voltage changes, resulting in a measurable signal.

Despite the continuous progress of research in this area, biosensitive transistors - BioFET devices - have not yet shown their full potential in the market. Imec has been investigating how an advanced generation of CMOS FET devices (finFET short length XNUMXD gate transistors) can improve BioFET sensitivity. This will help to use applied medicine. Such finFETs offer advantages in terms of high integration and parallelization, but very little is known about their potential as a BioFET.

With its bio finFET devices up to 50 nanometers in length, imec has demonstrated a robust signal for DNA hybridization and detection of tens of DNA molecules on the surface of nanometer-sized FinFETs. Based on experiments and simulations, imec predicts that the detection of single molecules with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) > 5 will become possible with FinFETs with wavelengths below 70 nm.

An electronic component made of semiconductor material, usually with three leads, capable of driving a significant current in the output circuit from a small input signal, which makes it possible to use it for amplifying, generating, switching and converting electrical signals. Currently, the transistor is the basis of the circuitry of the vast majority of electronic devices and integrated circuits.
