Alder sticky (black alder, European alder)

A tree of the birch family, 25-30 m high. The crown is ovoid, the bark is black, smooth. Blooms in March - April. The fruit is a flat single-seeded nutlet with narrow membranous wings. Ripens in August - October.

Alder sticky is common in the European part of Russia, in the Caucasus, in Western Siberia and Central Asia. Grows in floodplains, swampy lowlands and at the foot of slopes with a close outlet of groundwater, forming small groves.

Medicinal raw materials are seedlings (alder cones) and bark, sometimes leaves.

The bark contains essential oil, triterpenoids, steroids, vitamin PP and tannins (flobafen, pyrocatechol and pyrogallol derivatives).

Aldehydes and triterpenoids (glutinol and taraserol), steroids, vitamin C, flavonoids, resinous acids (glutinic and glutinolic) were found in the leaves.

Infructescences contain triterpenoids (dipterocarpol, lupenone), steroids (sitosterol), phenolcarboxylic acids and tannins (gallotonin, etc.), coumarins, flavonoids, fatty oil, higher fatty acids and aliphatic alcohols (ceryl and docosanol).

Alder sticky (black alder, European alder)

Alder preparations have astringent, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, wound healing and diaphoretic effects.

Decoction and infusion are used for acute inflammation of the intestines, as an aid in the recovery period after dysentery. They contribute to the reduction of fermentation and putrefactive processes in chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, promote epithelialization of the mucous membrane. Sometimes they are used to treat peptic ulcers of the stomach and duodenum and for bleeding from the intestines. Locally, a decoction is prescribed for inflammatory processes of the skin, burns and for rinsing the mouth and pharynx.

A decoction of alder leaves is recommended as a mild laxative, diaphoretic and antitussive, used for rheumatism and gout, breast cancer, stomach outlet, pancreas, duodenum, esophagus, rectum, throat and uterus.

Alder sticky (black alder, European alder), Alnus glutinosa. Tips for growing, harvesting and storing

cultivated and wild plants. Legends, myths, symbolism, description, cultivation, methods of application

Alder (Alnus glutinosa) is a fast growing tree that can reach a height of up to 30 meters. It grows throughout Europe and northern Asia, preferring damp places. In ornamental horticulture, it is used to create hedges, green areas and landscaping.

Tips for growing, harvesting and storing sticky alder:

Cultivation:

  • Alder alder grows best in full sun with high soil moisture, although it can also grow in slightly elevated areas. The best soil for the plant is deep, fertile, moist and well-drained soil. It does not tolerate drought and dry air, so it is necessary to provide it with constant access to water.
  • The optimal time for planting sticky alder is late spring or early autumn. The recommended size of the pit for planting is 60x60x60 cm. Compost or humus can be added to the pit to improve the soil structure. The distance between plants should be at least 3-4 meters.
  • The sticky alder does not require special care, although regular watering during a drought period can increase its growth and development. It is recommended to carry out top dressing in early spring and in the middle of summer, using complex mineral fertilizers.
  • Pruning is only necessary to create a hedge or form a tree crown. It is recommended to carry it out during the dormant period of the plant - in early spring or late autumn.

Workpiece:

  • Alder leaves and bark are often used in folk medicine.
  • For harvesting leaves, it is recommended to collect them in early summer and dry them in the air or in the shade.
  • The bark can be harvested at any time of the year and dried in the air.

Storage:

  • Dry leaves and sticky alder bark can be stored in a dark and cool dry place.

New method for creating powerful batteries 08.05.2024

With the development of technology and the expanding use of electronics, the issue of creating efficient and safe energy sources is becoming increasingly urgent. Researchers at the University of Queensland have unveiled a new approach to creating high-power zinc-based batteries that could change the landscape of the energy industry. One of the main problems with traditional water-based rechargeable batteries was their low voltage, which limited their use in modern devices. But thanks to a new method developed by scientists, this drawback has been successfully overcome. As part of their research, scientists turned to a special organic compound - catechol. It turned out to be an important component that can improve battery stability and increase its efficiency. This approach has led to a significant increase in the voltage of zinc-ion batteries, making them more competitive. According to scientists, such batteries have several advantages. They have b ... >>

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

IC integrates RF switch, variable capacitance circuit and microcontroller 19.09.2015

Increasing the degree of integration allows not only to reduce the size and power consumption of electronic devices. Having ready-made "building blocks" that solve specific problems, designers are able to reduce design time and focus their efforts not on the implementation of standard features, but on the distinctive features of the device they create.

Ethertronics, a company specializing in antennas and RF systems, introduced the EtherChip EC446 chip. According to the manufacturer, the EtherChip EC446 is the first product of its kind to integrate an RF switch, a variable capacitance circuit, and a microcontroller. EtherChip EC446 can be used for machine-to-machine radio communication in smartphones, tablets, laptops, IoT devices, and other electronic products. Visitors to the CTIA Super Mobility 2015 exhibition, which will be held from September 9 to 11 in Las Vegas, will be able to see the novelty.

The presence of a microcontroller allows you to get an active antenna system that adapts to the requirements of the application. By using the EC446 with antennas offered by Ethertronics, you can control the radiation pattern, change the passband center frequency, impedance matching, and more.

The operating frequency range extending from 100 to 7000 MHz allows the EtherChip EC446 to support Bluetooth, GSM/WCDMA/LTE, Wi-Fi, RFID and GPS. Control flexibility is provided by the presence of an interface that can be configured as SPI, I2C, UART or MIPI.

The chip is available in a 24-pin QFN package with dimensions of 3,0 x 3,0 x 0,75 mm.
