Immortelle. Legends, myths, history

Immortelle

This flower is called so because, even if plucked, it does not fade for a long time. The flower likes to settle on mounds formed when digging holes and grooves, when sand is thrown to the surface from deeper layers of soil.

Ancient people endowed the immortelle with supernatural properties, suggesting that the soul of a person moves into a flower in order to communicate with living relatives and friends.

Among the people, the immortelle is often called cat's paws because, probably, its delicate inflorescences are similar in shape to cat's paws, and are soft, like their pads. The immortelle also has a legendary name - "nechui-wind".

According to legend, the nechuy-wind helps the blind to open the cursed treasures. On the night of Ivan Kupala, with a nechu-wind, a catchment area and a flowering fern in your hands, you had to pick a gap-grass flower and walk through the forest, the lawn until a pain appeared in your eyes. And as soon as she appears, pick up a spade and quickly tear the ground: the cursed treasure should be under your feet.

According to an ancient Indian legend, the immortelle was born as follows: in one village, a guy and a girl got married. Departing after the wedding from the bride's father's wigwam to her husband's parents, the young people met wild animals, which immediately tore them to pieces.

Residents buried the newlyweds on the banks of the river. And in the spring, a light lilac flower suddenly appeared at the place of their burial. The hunter, passing by him, exclaimed with emotion: "Live forever!", and nature accepted a good wish.

Since then, these flowers are popularly called immortelle.

Immortelle. Botanical description of the plant, areas of growth and ecology, economic importance, applications

Immortelle

It is called immortelle because even plucked does not fade for a long time. The name of the flower came to us from France, from the French "immorteli", which means "immortelle" in translation. It is often referred to as "unfading", "survivable".

Immortelle prefers sandy soil and likes to settle on mounds formed when digging holes and grooves, when sand is thrown to the surface from deeper layers of soil. And therefore often found on the graves. Ancient people endowed it with supernatural properties, suggesting that the soul of a person moves into a flower in order to communicate with surviving relatives and friends in order to convey to them the last bow-greetings from the deceased.

Nowadays, no one believes such legends. But immortelle flowers continue to grow on mass graves and battle mounds. People want to believe that these sad flowers protect the sleep and peace of the dead heroes, do not give time and wind to wipe the expensive mounds off the face of the earth.

Popularly, the immortelle is often called cat's paws because, probably, its delicate velvety inflorescences are similar in shape to cat's paws and are soft, like their pads.

Cat's paws grow on dry slopes and meadows, along the edges of pine forests and mixed forests. Distributed even in the northern regions. They bloom from the second half of April to July with crimson flowers collected in a dense thyroid panicle.

In the villages, they were used to decorate icon cases with icons, which is why they were mistakenly called the Mother of God grass. The medical nickname for the cat's paw is chest grass; from it, our ancestors prepared "breast tea" for colds.

The immortelle also has a legendary name - nechui-wind.

According to legend, the nechuy-wind helps the blind to open the cursed treasures. For what it was required on the night of Ivan Kupala with a nechu-wind, a catchment area and a flowering fern in their hands to pick a flower gap-grass and walk around the lawn until a pain appeared in the eyes. And as soon as it appeared, it was necessary to pick up a spade and quickly tear the ground: the cursed treasure should be under your feet.

According to Indian legends, the immortelle was born as follows: in one village, a guy and a girl got married.

They assure that if immortelle powder is sprinkled on a cut or wound, healing will come faster, and if hung in places where a moth has started, the insect will disappear.

Sometimes the colchicum flower is considered to be an immortelle, whose large pinkish or bluish-lilac flowers do not go out until late autumn. Colchicum is widespread in the south of Ukraine and the Caucasus. During flowering, it is devoid of leaves, in connection with which it is also called a golyak.

And the most decorative are the special colchicum, from one bulb of which three or four inflorescences are formed, and also autumn colchicum, with one tall large flower and half a dozen small ones.

They bloom from late September until frost.

Other types of immortelle, such as Helichrysum plicatum, also have these properties. The action of immortelle is associated with flavones, which activate the formation of bile and increase the content of bilirubin in bile.

Infusions and decoctions slow down the evacuation function of the stomach and intestinal motility. Helichrysum preparations are of low toxicity, but with prolonged use they can cause congestion in the liver. Immortelle has antibacterial activity, which is associated with the presence of resin acids.

Immortelle is used mainly for diseases of the liver and biliary tract. Under the influence of immortelle drugs, bile secretion increases, the composition of bile changes due to an increase in the content of cholates, and the content of bilirubin and cholesterol in the blood decreases.

Alcohol content of warm beer 07.05.2024

Beer, as one of the most common alcoholic drinks, has its own unique taste, which can change depending on the temperature of consumption. A new study by an international team of scientists has found that beer temperature has a significant impact on the perception of alcoholic taste. The study, led by materials scientist Lei Jiang, found that at different temperatures, ethanol and water molecules form different types of clusters, which affects the perception of alcoholic taste. At low temperatures, more pyramid-like clusters form, which reduces the pungency of the "ethanol" taste and makes the drink taste less alcoholic. On the contrary, as the temperature increases, the clusters become more chain-like, resulting in a more pronounced alcoholic taste. This explains why the taste of some alcoholic drinks, such as baijiu, can change depending on temperature. The data obtained opens up new prospects for beverage manufacturers, ... >>

Meat drinks 04.08.2017

German butcher Peter Klassen has developed a unique liquid meat and has already filed an application to patent such an unusual but nutritious drink.

Peter Klassen worked on the recipe for meat drinks for three years, and the German chef Stefan Kimmel and his son Philipp helped him in this. The recipe for liquid meat is not a secret - for this, a piece of meat must be fried with vegetables, and then boiled in broth.

The mixture thus obtained is crushed and kneaded to the consistency of cocoa. The meat drink is then bottled and sterilized. Liquid meat, Klassen says, can easily be refrigerated for up to 12 months.

The drink will be presented in three flavors: "Bombay Beef", "Steak" and "Royal Chicken". The butcher has already agreed with distributors on deliveries to France, Belgium and Luxembourg. This autumn, liquid meat will hit the shelves in Germany.
