Fundamentals of First Aid (OPMP)

Bruises - damage to tissues and organs of the body with a blunt object, without violating the integrity of the skin. Usually small blood and lymphatic vessels, subcutaneous fat, and muscles are damaged.

Evidence: pain of varying intensity, swelling, bruising, dysfunction. If a large vessel is damaged, a hematoma (collection of blood) may form; if an arterial vessel is damaged, the hematoma can be pulsating, it increases with each contraction of the heart. With extensive bruises and hematomas due to their resorption or suppuration, a local (in the area of the bruise) or general increase in temperature occurs.

First Aid Service:

applying a pressure bandage;
elevated position of the injured part of the body;
cold to the injury site (ice pack or cold water, snow in a plastic bag, etc.).

All of these measures reduce pain, swelling and bruising; Before applying a pressure bandage, it is advisable to lubricate the skin in the area of the bruise with a 5% alcohol solution of iodine to prevent microbes from entering the skin into deeper tissues.

Necessary equipment: bandage, ice pack or heating pad with cold water, a roller from improvised means to ensure an elevated position, 5% alcohol solution of iodine, cotton wool.

Scientists from the University of Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania, USA) found that mathematical abilities are transmitted genetically.

50 different families were studied. Children and parents had to solve mathematical problems.

At first, the test was solved by adults, they answered rather simple arithmetic questions for their age. Then the second group, representing the children-respondents, solved problems from specialists. Note that only schoolchildren enrolled in the first grades were allowed to participate in the experiment. Scientists already knew the approximate results of the study.
